For people who are impatient for SKSE because jiggly boobs - you might as well give up now because that's not what SKSE does. You are confusing SKSE with HDT Physics.

HDT Physics won't be coming to SSE, regardless of SKSE64. If you had SKSE64 yesterday, you still wouldn't have HDT Physics ever.

Where did you get that info that HDT not gonna be transfereed to SSE?

It was months ago, sorry, I don't have a link. The reason that was given was something like this:

HDT Physics for Oldrim is built using Intel's Havok SDK, the 32-bit version of which is free, and that made distributing it for Oldrim possible.

The 64-bit version is not free and distributing it would require that every user paid for a commercial licence. When you buy SSE you are in part paying for a licence to use the bits of Havok that are built into Skyrim, but you haven't paid for the bits of Havok that would need to be built into HDT, so you would need to pay again. The developer of HDT can't sell HDT to you (we aren't alllowed to sell mods), so there is no way he could recover those licence fees to pass on to Intel.

I think that's the gist of it. Maybe you can google it.

The point is, that HDT is not "something programmed in SKSE" and if we only had SKSE it could just be recompiled. It's programmed in Havok and SKSE is just used to link it to Skyrim. SKSE would be necessary but not sufficient.

This is factually incorrect on so many levels. Havok is already a part of Skyrim. Bethesda's licensing extends to redistribution of Havok in whatever form the game ships with (specifically for modding),

HDT simply utilizes the same libraries in ways the game itself didn't and anyone with a proper copy of the SDK can distribute whatever they like even if it is the free version. I have access to the 64 bit version that was free and had the free license before Microsoft bought them, it's near impossible to find now because most only had up to Havok 2013. The free licenses from those copies still apply pro-actively so I am still free to distribute whatever I like.

Even if it was the case that Skyrim shipped with a version no one had access to for free along with no license, then people who DO pay for the full copy of Havok will have the license to distribute anyway.

The people saying it won't come to SSE comes from the fact the author is no longer around. There are plenty of other people who will probably take a crack at porting it or making something similar if he doesn't show back up.

Maybe I should start working on my own extender? I know some C++ and assembly, auto decompile tools cost money though.

Not to say you can't, I'm not here to piss in your cheerios, but I feel the task would be surprisingly daunting and most likely the reason this team's script extenders have never had any competition (to my limited knowledge).

What about petitioning Bethesda to put together SKSE64? They could charge $20 for it, and I and everyone serious about SSE would willingly pay.

The corporate headquarters of Bethesda / ZeniMax Media Inc. is here:

They publicly announced a tentative date for a beta release. Do you understand the underlined words? Whether you believe you're justified to demand updates is irrelevant as they are not obligated to provide them for something that you, nor anyone else, is paying them for. I agree it would be nice, but it is not something they owe you. They are not providing a product or service that you have purchased, they are volunteering their time and effort to create and distribute something, for free. And when or even if they decide to do that is 100% up to them. And if you think they're possibly "doing this for the sole purpose of trolling" you are the one who is completely full of s*** and out of touch and completely lacking perspective with the modding community and the team behind SKSE.

I'm not stupid, I'm well aware the release was tentative, and that them being trolls is unlikely, but that's not the point I'm getting at. The only reason they have for not putting 10 minutes aside to let us know they are still working on it when they know that literally thousands of people are twiddling their thumbs is that they are dead, without communication, or simply don't care. It shows a lack of consideration for the community and that reason enough for me to get aggressive with the people here who are being complacent by defending them.

Or they're heads-down bums-up working on their day jobs? Perhaps said day jobs even have them on a social media blackout? (doesn't one of them work in games industry or with a *large* company?, if so that could be possible couldn't it.)

I wouldn't expect to implement all the functionality obviously, but I have been rooting around inside the executable with a hex editor and I think I understand a small part of it. It would be much easier with an auto decompile tool and I really just want to be able to call console commands from papyrus for a start.

On March 19, I posted an argument for regular updates (post #203) that suggested a win-win rationale for updating regularly:

Posted 19 March 2017 - 06:11 PM

Cheering for the dev team!

Here are a few reasons why the head honcho(s) on this project might consider putting out a regular status report (say, quarterly or monthly?) i.e. keep doing what you are doing and don't let the detractors sway you otherwise.

  • Allows the project leader(s) to manage the form and content of communications and hence steer it more effectively
  • Manages everyone's expectations, supports cohesion - shuts down the fools who feel any kind of entitlement
  • Evolves and manages the project timelines and drives empathy - communicates current milestones, changing target dates, delaying or extending news, etc
  • Keeps admirers, supporters and interested parties more engaged: As engaged parties are more apt to lend a hand or add financial support

Of course its at the team's discretion. However, I believe a status report is a win-win for devs and those of us waiting with bated breath for the glorious results.

I hope the suggestion gets some traction :ninja:

Literally five minutes to make a one sentence post on either here, silverlock, or reddit is all it would take, effectively nothing when it comes to taking away effort towards developing SKSE.

And at this point, they will get bashed even with good news, nevermind a bad new, it's not entirely their fault, but so many devs do the "silent treatment" these days.

I agree that just a little message would be pleasant. Stil, I understand that the SKSE team have other occupations and they can't always answer all of our questions.

Maybe they haven't even the capacity to drop a message at present. Maybe they meant to write "March 2018". Maybe the sky is blue.
