I think they have forgotten about SKSE64 because of their work.

No, I don't think so instead they need to pay attention what happen in their RL. Why do you think they have forgotten their most appreciated and well spread Script Extender?

Seriously guys, they've been doing this for over a decade. Same team has done everything since Oblivion. This is not an ambitious but inexperienced modder setting out plans too big to handle; that pattern doesn't apply. They know the scope of it, they have a well-established routine for it, and if they were genuinely hitting a wall they'd tell us about it.

This!

And between a possible (probable, IMO) NDA and the likelihood that whatever schedule they had collided with RL, I'm NOT surprised that it's not ready yet. Nor do I think it's "dead".

They've forgotten about it BECAUSE they need to pay attention to what happens in their RL.

You have far too much faith in people. They're not going to tell us the project is dead themselves because the backlash if they did would be catastrophic. And yeah they DID tell us they hit a wall -- in the April 1 update, the one where they admit they haven't actually done anything with this project for months. We'd be wise to consider the project "dead" until they actually come out and tell us otherwise.

In some ways I'm enjoying my Skyrim being relatively light on scripts. I'm still using all my favourite mods - AFT, Convenient Horses, Frostfall, Moonlight Tales, quest mods, combat overhauls, even an older version of SkyUI. I don't use any of the LoversLab-esque mods that seem to be heavy on SKSE.

However, I AM missing MCM menus and really, really missing Jaxonz mods for decorating and placing objects. I don't think I would ever go back to playing Oldrim because the performance I get is fantastic with SE. It's so smooth even with tons of mods and textures. I also don't get any of the annoying shimmering on textures that I got in Oldrim no matter what method of AA I tried. It would be truly epic with SKSE.

There has to be some rich Elder Scrolls lover out there who would pay to get this done, right? :P

What I've been thinking. What would it cost? $20K-$30K US dollars to hire a professional computer engineer? One rich trust baby could pay it off with spare change.

Alternatively, as I've repeatedly argued, crowd fund with many contributing.

"We'd be wise to consider the project "dead" until they actually come out and tell us otherwise." What we need is an insider scoop or an arm twist confession so that the players can move on. Without SKSE, I found Oldrim to be tedious and boring. With SKSE, I turned it into a comedy.

I'm not sure of the legality of it, but if we're able to crowd fund I'd put some money down on it.

Decades making script extenders to quit now? And on their most popular one?

I doubt that very much. If that were so there would be no reason to have begun in the first place. And being so obviously enthusiastic about it as BeHippo was (much appreciated!) would make no sense at all.

I think valid concerns would be:

1) If something has happened to one of the team, and the others aren't sure if they want to go on. (It's a crazy world out there)

2) They were ordered to cease and desist by a murder of crows disguised as Lawyers who forbade them on pain of disembowelment by tiny fishhooks from revealing that fact.

3) Bethesda otherwise said 'No'.

4) Their own Gaming companies forbade them from doing further work to enhance a 'competing' product... on pain of... with fish-hooks, etc.

These are legit concerns. The attention-deficit abandonment most mention simply doesn't fit the profile.

I hope all is well with the team.

Please avoid crows, lawyers, and disembowelment by fish-hook.
