PJS1488
Has anybody found a solution for this? It is the bane of my existence! Aside from it, and, the occasional framerate drop, the game, even heavily modded runs remarkably stable for me. The loading screen issue seems to happen at complete random. It can happen either when I'm trying to exit, or, enter a cell through a door, or, sometimes when I try to fast travel. I've let it sit for up to 20 minutes, still stuck on the loading screen. iXenite
If I'm not mistaken Infinite Loading Screens occur due to bad memory allocation. Broken save games, memory shortage, or too much object/texture data is being loaded for the system to handle at that particular moment are the main things that cause this issue as well. What are your specs? Load order? Edited January 9, 2017 by DaddyDirection
JimmyRJump
What DaddyDirection said, except that it's not an infinite load screen because, actually, the loading just stops. It's what I have observed when confronted with the phenomenon in the past. I monitor V-RAM and System RAM through MSI Afterburner on the small display on my G19 keyboard and have seen that both V-RAM and system RAM usage freezes (i.e. is stuck at the amount its at) when this so called load-loop occurs. The music continues in the background and the load screen changes backdrop and info, but the game or save stops loading because of an error in RAM allocation, causing a freezing of RAM usage... BurntHostage
Jimmy, this happens to my system a lot. - endless or frozen loading (I can tell when the red drive-in-use light stops flashing while waiting). My system is about 3 yrs old though.. 6core,16gb ram, dual GTX670 Sli. Game is running off regular HD - my primary SDD doesn't have enough space when including the mods.. BurntHostage
It resolves itself mostly when quitting to desktop and restarting the game
JimmyRJump
It resolves itself mostly when quitting to desktop and restarting the gameSure, but that's just where the problem lies, now isn't it, since the glitch forces you to close the game to desktop, losing all progress between your last save and the load freeze... Zkoarn
So I take it that there's absolutely no fix for this, and you just have to call it quits on FO4?
JimmyRJump
So I take it that there's absolutely no fix for this, and you just have to call it quits on FO4?As far as I've seen (having around ten-thousand hours in FO4 right now) it first of all has to do with bad allocation of RAM (both system and Video) but has more chance to happen when having added and deleted a lot of mods in the course of one play-through. A lot of mods' changes get baked into a save and can have an influence on future game behaviour even when said mods have been deleted from the game. As such, there can also be an influence on what is loaded and what is not. Most of these freezes happen when transitioning from one cell to another (fast-travel; entering a door between an outside and inside cell). On my latest run, I now have seven days, sixteen hours and fourty-nine minutes of play and the RAM-freeze occured only once and that was while testing a mod for someone, in combination with the extensive use of the expanded items list of Place Everywhere for scrapping stuff that is either non-scrappable or out of build limit bounds. These freezes usually happen when in WorkShop mode and scrolling through the menus. In the previous run (over nie-hundred hours) I had it maybe four or five times. In a still earlier play-through, I had it almost constantly at one point, but that was a game that was riddled with added and deleted mods... So, to me, the best thing to do is to avoid too many changes in plug-ins load for a game. Keep newly downloaded mods you want to use, for your next run ;) Again, not putting this forward as an exact science. Just my observations so far. BurntHostage
My game's run way way smoother since I deleted a few hundred saves. Placed a bunch in a backup folder too Way smoother - the elevator rides are also much quicker.
BurntHostage
Also had NMM 'purge loose files' so maybe that contributed ..
