Havarth
As the you've guessed from the title, I'm a man and would like to get to know what the other half of the Nexus better. If there are other topics on this, I couldn't find them. Where do you feel modding is lacking for you the most and what kinds of mods would you like to see? What about mods you already love and can't play without? What sort of interactivity would you value most in quests and followers? Anything you'd want to share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Athanasa
The same general mods as those equipped with a phallus. What a strange question to ask. A slight rephrase if your title (' How do women value different aspects of gameplay and mods?' or something similar) will probably yield better results. It's not like my possession of a functioning vagina somehow means I MUST like different mods to someone without a vagina. Having said that, I like mods that add depth into the game. Especially after Bethesda seemed to keen to strip out anything deeper than a puddle. Survival enhancements, revamped perks... And of course quests. Fallout 4 has such much potential for plot and making players really question things - story telling and poking humanity with a stick to see what falls out. This was a major part of previous Fallout games. Fallout 4 waves brief morsels of compelling plot and world building under your nose, sometimes even letting you have a taste... Before you find out that was all there was. "Would you like a sip of this wine?""Wow, it's really good! Such complex flavours, but I really need another sip to--""Too bad, we only made enough for one sip.""Oh." damanding
As a woman I find the fact that absolutely everyone assumes I'm male incredibly annoying. Maybe I should photoshop a dreadful pink bow on my avatar. I think the over the top titty mods are pretty ridiculous, but I just assume the users of those are either teenage boys or older men in sexless marriages and I mostly feel sorry for them. Other than those I pretty much use all the same mods most men do, well maybe fewer gun mods. I'm satisfied with either a vanilla gauss rifle or a shotgun. I switch to the shotgun when I'm really in the mood to kill things. It's really satisfying to just run screaming up to a super mutant and blasting him away at point blank range. Or use the gauss rifle when I don't feel like battling and just want to kill annoying things quickly so that I can continue on to my destination. montky
@Havarththat is an interesting question, and thanks for asking it.there's nothing wrong with wondering how other fans play Fallout, and different folks make different choices based on all kinds of stuff.understanding the answers to questions like these, is trying to recapture that lightning in a bottle,as Fallout has been rather awesome at appealing to a very broad audience of folks fromall kinds of backgrounds.it has a tradition of a lot of customization and a lot of ways to play in a persistent sandbox environment,so going forward, it would be awesome to retain a lot of those features that made Fallout uniquelyappealing to such a broad audience. asking a similar question in real-world gamer groups or clubs,it seems a lot of different players wanted non-violent ways to achieve objectives, and enjoyed the GURPS or FORPG elements in previous titles.- they liked having persuasion checks and charisma-based checks, to role play as scientists or bombshell-adventurers.- disguises and finding resolutions that united disparate factions were as much fun, as being able to cut loose and flee in a disguise.- lack of a karma system annoyed a lot of players regardless of background. - the lack of being able to customize the player character to reflect the envisaged orientation etc - ie, to have their descendant be customizeable, and their partner at the start of the game be male-male or female-female, or lgbtqiaho+lgbtqiaho etc.in previous titles, you could set those things at the start, and get traits such as black widow from the beginning.in FO4, if your character is polyamorous/promiscuous, there is a soft-punishment/dissuading, as you must be careful where and when to obtain the lover's embrace bonus XP effect... - the quest "the marowski heist/diamond city blues" was a consistent point of contention -a lot of people didn't like the denouement or Darcy Pembroke's character, and didn't like how Darcy couldn't be the bar tender or interrupt the deal either.as it is implied Darcy is battered by Paul, and given Kellogg's descent from a similar background,a lot of players wanted to side with Darcy and support Darcy or help Darcy.Darcy also might have a history with Abernathy and Piper... I mean, a lot of people felt horrible at what happened to FONV's Veronica -she loved another woman in her BoS detachment, but, because of how the elder was (and, Veronica Santangelo's descent from the Council of Steele, a great ancestor was there at Mariposa when Maxson seceded),norms of that particular place and time imposed by the Elder, caused Veronica to be treated abhorrently.she was exiled, merely for loving someone... to a dangerous procurement outpost, and the Elder hoped she'd die or return begging for forgiveness...the denouement?Veronica can be reintegrated into the community, in a win-win way, on equal footing, with the BoS needing her skillset.and eventually becomes Elder of that detachment of BoS.It is a testament to Veronica's character, that despite that horrific misunderstanding, she is still loyal to the BoS, and prepared to accept a leadership opportunity when one arises. I'd expect that kind of 'no mutants' crap from the Outcast BoS, Central BoS or the Enclave, but not from Maxson's BoS.the BoS helped project purity to make water available - it didn't want to 'kill all mutants'; just the antagonistic ones who attacked others.as a BoS fan, it was a very dark side to the BoS to see how they mistreat some of their own and how farthat detachment in the Mojave had wandered from BoS values and ethos.FO4's BoS is so much more evil-shifted for some reason... they would have sought detente with the Institute, the good institute anyways.maybe, if the Atom Cats are descended from both BoS and Enclave, heck, the BoS would seek detente with the Enclave too. - the institute main quest; there were several other Institute 'elders' who might make better leaders of the Institute than even Father or the Player Character, yet these are overlooked. CVRIE, Cait, Desdamona, Dr Amari, Virgil, Head of Robotics, Dr Li...a lot of people disliked the recycling of Liberty Prime, and would prefer that the appointment to director of institute be a more significant option.if you choose say CVRIE, you get a different Ron Perlman outro card thanVirgil or Head of Robotics...you could also, with high-speech check, alter their arrangement, to have an acephalous council in a power-sharing arrangement.CVRIE, P.A.M. KL30 or a ZAX can have the veto. ---thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing what all kinds of gamers have to reflect.its great to hear from all different random samples from all of the fan/user base,it all helps form a demographic picture of how folks play,as much as it makes the game itself more enjoyable for all the other users. its all about having more customization and options for the player hehe. I thought you are male  .Well, I`m sorry, now I know that you are a girl. Can`t even say why I though so..Maybe the avatar and your nickname together made such an impression. But glad to know that there are more girls here.Maybe other people think that I`m a man too ... :D As for answering the question...I totally ignore unrealistic huge tits , buts, penises etc mods. If I install naked bodies, then for both males and females. I have many mods to make my settlement alive. Mods that make settlers do something more than just sleep and work plus various craftable things mods. And I`m quite interested in getting mods with new settlements that have a large and nice area for building . Not sure that it has something to do with me being a woman but I think I have answered the question. It`s easier to tell what I`m not interested in. Unrealistic sex doll looking bodies, different sexy female companions, weapons that don`t do anything interesting and unique..Also I don`t have mods to make the game easier. Ondrea
Just as all the guys have different tastes in mods, so do us females. But as for what I personally look for in mods, outfits that don't give me a tiny indented waist with scrawny legs and that aren't too skimpy. I stick with the vanilla body and armor mods that accommodate vanilla weight sliders. I like cool weapon mods like most everyone else. Regarding interactivity in quests and followers. I'll be honest, I don't like questing and running errands for people. I tend to just wander around and see what I come across. I do like the follower dialogues for the most part. I'm not fond of seeing likes and dislikes. I don't want to feel I have to impress them or change how I do things, so I either use a mod that gets rid of that or go mostly solo. Actually, would be nice if they tried to impress me instead! The romance options are nice but really only result in some silly comments after you've slept. They don't seem to change their dialogue otherwise when out adventuring together, which makes me really not bother with that aspect. Lots of mods I can't live without, but some of them include Campsite-Simple Wasteland Camping to accommodate my wanderlust, Lone Wanderer Fast Travel for ease of travel and to avoid the Glowing Sea as much as possible (I hate that place), Docile Radstags, Increased Walking Speed, Slower Ghouls (because fast ghouls lunging at me freaks me out), No Brotherhood Hostility for Danse, and some overhauls for Danse, MacCready, and Preston. There's a lot more but this gives you an idea.
Crimsomrider
Simple answer : Male outfits. Every comment section or forum I read is filled with "Oh my God, this f-ing game is just a ground for perverts""Can these f-ing dick beaters make some male armors for once?!" "F*** sakes, another female only mod. Get a f-ing girlfriend"! So yeah... male outfits pretty much. Most people don't realize though that female body is much more satisfying to work on. Not because it's just a woman or because she's nude when you work on the outfit, but because a shape of a woman is a more beautiful shape and much easier to work with and female bodies are much better looking than the male ones. Not to mention, women can wear absolutely everything, while men are restricted to manly clothes. You will rarely see a guy on the street wear a tank top that reveals his belly button, while you'll see extremely often women do it. I personally used to play exclusively males when I played Skyrim. Then after 700 hours, I decided to recreate Daenerys from Game Of Thrones and I simply never played a male again. I exclusively play female only characters ever since that point, simply because I can't stand the male bravado anymore. A mountain of muscles that can butcher an entire faction and not break a sweat. I am sick of the whole cliche of it. So I went with the "gentler" gender. The more compassionate one, the more tender one. I like emotions and the compassion a woman can offer and I just can't get that by playing a male character. What I find ridiculous though is that there are rarely any games in which you can even play as a female, let alone have a female main character. It is interesting to see people lose their s*** because there's an extremely successful game franchise in which a lot of people prefer to play as a female and just because a minority of mod authors make skimpy mods, everyone who ever makes anything for a female is considered a pervert. In my opinion, a game needs to provide an interesting male character in order for people to play the male character. Witcher 3 for example, I could not imagine playing if it weren't for Geralt. The character is one of the best written characters ever and I have no issues playing as him and even roleplaying as him. I get the emotion from him and the compassion. From Nate in Fallout 4, not so much. His performance is stale to me... not to mention male animations are hideously dumb. He's running as if he has 300 tons of weight on his back. Nobody runs like that.
damanding
All but one of the games I've done in Fallout was with a female character. I love clothing like pretty much everything Elianora has ever done, Crimsomrider's 1950's Feminine Outfits, and various others. It's just the extra slooty stuff and some of the presets I roll my eyes at. I actually agree with Crimsomrider that in many ways looking at a female character is much more attractive. My sexual orientation is queer, I like all genders. So when I roll my eyes at the slooty stuff, it isn't because I would rather drool over a buff man, but because I think it's over the top, unrealistic and depending on the mod actually degrading to women. I don't use CBBE because I think the vanilla, EVB and Wonderbody female shapes are perfectly healthy and normal. I don't feel the need to use CBBE to unrealistically enhance a woman's figure. I DO use the nude EVB bodies for both male and female because despite my dislike of overly slooty stuff, I'm not even close to being a prude, quite the opposite. In fact I find it satisfying to strip my enemies to their bare skin, it means I've utterly destroyed them. I also think the vanilla underwear is just incredibly ugly and I don't like how you can still see things like bra straps with the Gunslinger outfit. I also don't use overly buff looking bodies for the males in my game either because I don't think guys should feel pressure to meet certain body standards any more than women should. :D

What I do have a problem with is when people come to other people's mods and then criticize them for what they make. Like people that come into my mods and criticize me and ask me dumb questions because I make a lot of barefoot outfits. As if nobody ever saw feet before I started making mods. Boobs and asses are okay, but God forbid that someone makes non-skimpy barefoot outfits. First of all, I don't even make skimpy outfits regularly. Sure, I made a few, but only when it suited the atmosphere of the mod and they're not overly skimpy, except my Queen Of Bones armor. But then again, that mod offers the most customization options a user could wish for. The armor can be extremely clothed and armored if one chooses so and it's actually how I use it. I'd like to see someone actually make an armor entirely out of bones that is not skimpy. I am a man, I like women just like any other guy, but I don't play this game to stare at nude women or nude men. I admire the shape of a woman like art and I treat it as such. I also love to see some skin on every outfit that I make, because I love feminine outfits. I make barefoot mods because I myself am barefoot most of the time and it is one of the most sensational feelings. I love walking barefoot and feeling my toes in the snow because it's such a nice and liberating feeling. But because people think that this site is just a porn site, I get branded as a hardcore sole-sucking-licking foot-fetishist just because I make barefoot outfits. I like legs as much as any other part of the body. People need to stop hiding in their small little bubble and accept that not everyone likes what they personally like. I like barefoot outfits, I like to see skin on my outfits, I will never again play a male character and I don't care if people have an issue with that. I play Fallout 4 so I can live a life I usually don't live. That's the whole point of games and people who judge other people based on how they play the game, are in my opinion, primitive and acting as if they're sitting on high horses. damanding
For what it's worth, I have never once gone on the mod pages of the mods I dislike and bad mouthed them. I absolutely follow the "don't like it, don't comment" rule of the Nexus. I also completely agree that people should be allowed to use whatever mods they like, it's their game after all. But my judgement of some mods doesn't necessarily mean I think I'm better or that I'm on a high horse. It means I'm a human being and have an opinion. My opinion happens to dislike some mods. But I rarely comment on my body and armor opinions publicly and I'm certainly not on a quest to change other people. I'm also capable of recognizing mods which are well done and providing compliments, even when a mod is not to my personal taste. For instance Crimsomrider, there are a lot of your clothing mods I don't care for. Not because I judge them to be slooty or because I disapprove of them, but just because it's not a clothing style I care for. I'm really more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl in real life and tend to gravitate toward attire that is based on that. I'm also not much on deep role playing. But I still think your mods are very high quality and absolutely recommend them to others. I think you do great work and I always enjoy looking through all the pictures when you release a new mod. Finally, people freak out over some of your mods being barefoot? Really? SMH, the things people have a hissy fit about sometimes slays me. :D
