Constant Crashing near Ghostgate

I've been playing Morrowind constantly since get my new computer in early November and had few if any repeatable crashes.Its crashed less than 10 and one was because I had forgotten to reapply the 4GB patch and the other was do MWSE mod going all wonky.But now I have been getting this repeatable crash when enter the cell right outside Ghostgate and another one when I try to enter Fadathram Ancestral Tomb. I have no clue what could be causing it.I tried disable MGE XE internal MWSE,disable my only MWSE dependent mod and the my only other idea which was to disable the Julan Companion mod but none of those stopped the crashes.

I am using MGSO and other plugginless mods but nothing that should be causing this crash,mainly texture replacer's.


What could be causing this crashing and how do I fix it.I am absolutely loving this playthrough and I would hate to lose even more so considering this probably one of the most stable least crashy Morrowind install\Playthroughs I've have ever had.

I regenerated distant land using MGE XE and the game still crashes,I disabled distant still crashes,I disabled mge xe and it still crashes.So its not any of those.I sort my lord order using Mlox and I can't rerun MGSO Setup since that would mess up the Temporary Patch stuff.I have no clue what could be causing this crash.All my warnings.txt say is this Dialogue "" type "Journal" tried to become type "Topic". and I know which two mods those come from and I looked up the error and everyone said it was harmless.This issue is quite vexing.

Please Help

Only thing I can think of is downloading Wrye Mash because that's the program that shows you if the mods you have installed are not conflicting with each other and if there are some mods that are, Wrye Mash also fixes the problem with a couple button clicks. BTW "I can't rerun MGSO Setup since that would mess up the Temporary Patch stuff" how do you know this? because I may be missing something with my problem and it might have to do with this since a lot of my landscape .esp mods aren't being realized in game.

I already use Wrye Mash and Mlox.The thing about the MGSO setup is because I followed this guide http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43479/? in order to fix bugs and update outdated mods found in the pack.

I found the culprit for my crashing its being caused my in both areas mention by Intervention Improved No Script Ghostgate by hollaajith. Why I do not know but when I deactivate that mod and only that mod the issue does not occur.Now I just got to figure out how to make it play nice.

Nice, you would happen to know why my landscape .esp mods aren't working would you? I had them working at one point but then a lot of them stopped like the vurts ashlands overhaul. even though they're completely checked, they just won't work anymore. there's no grass or trees from the mods. I have it installed in my c drive directory as well.

Sorry I don't know why because I have never had this problem before and this is my first play through with distant land.

Maxrebo - I had a look at hollaajith's mod and nothing I could see from an eyeball check made me think it was a CTD-causer. hollaajith's a good modder with a great grasp of MW scripting. Unfortunately he's not been around for a while.

 

Getting a CTD as soon as you enter the Ghostgate exterior cell makes me think it's not a scripting issue (looks like he's added some delays into his scripts). The only other thing I could see was the mod adding a Temple marker into that cell (which is where you teleport to).

 

So... that got me thinking about doubling. Maybe, if there are two temple markers in the same cell the game collapses in a snotty heap?

 

It could be that you used another version of hollaajith's mod and the items that old mod adds to the game world weren't cleaned up properly after moving to the new version, despite the great work hrnchamd's done with MCP that can still be an issue, AFAIK.

 

So... when you say you tried Wrye Mash did you use it to repair your save:

With Wrye Mash installed follow this procedure to clean a savegame:

 

Firstly, initial cleaning of your installed mods:

(1) On the Mods tab all mods should have a green checkbox.

(2) If any mods have a yellow checkbox, select them and then look for the

Save button in the bottom right. Click that and the mod file will be

updated and the error removed. The error just means that the mod was

created with an earlier version of Morrowind to the one you're using.

Saving in Mash will update this version info.

(3) If you have any mods with red checkboxes then you do not have a ESM

file needed by that mod loaded. Check the mod's readme.

 

Secondly, cleaning your savegames:

(4) Onto the Saves tab, select the savegame you want to fix.

(5) When the savegame is selected the list in the bottom right will be

populated with the mods currently associated with the savegame.

(6) Right click the column headers ("File" and "Num") and choose Sync to

Load List (this will change the mods associated with the savegame to

match those currently selected on the Mods tab).

(7) Click Save

( :cool: Right click the savegame and choose Repair All.

(8a) Optionally, right click the savegame and choose Remove > Debris Cells.

(9) The checkbox for the save should now be purple.

 

One way to test my hypothesis is to go (without the mod loaded) somewhere near Gostgate and cast the appropriate Intervention spell. If you get teleported to Ghostgate then there's got to be a marker there, AFAIK there isn't one in vanilla.

I didn't use another version of his mod earlier in this play-through.The one that caused is was the made a Ghostgate marker right outside Ghostgate,I have since switched to the version that warps you into the temple right in front of the altar and that causes no crashes at all.It no longer crashes in the Entrance to Ghostgate Cell or the Fadathram Ancestral Tomb.Yes I do use Wrye Bash to clean my saves following those instructions every time.

 

Its all fixed now except for one issue which is really irksome was that before I figured the cause,I had cleaned my save games including Remove>Debris Cells which I something I usually don't use,which had the side effect of deleting all the items I had in stored in containers.In my houses that I was using for storage in Balmora.Some of which included Artifacts and unique,but at least I can get those back using the console,but I also lost Books,Notes,Scrolls,Keys,Custom Potions and Ingredients.The only things I didn't lose were items I had displayed on shelves or tables.

 

One other side effects is that it seemingly broke the scripts in Sylconix At Home Alchemy Redux,now instead of activating my apparatus when not crouched it just picks them up and puts them in my inventory like in Vanilla.Will that fix itself if I were to say put them in a cell I have not been in before.If that's the case then its fine since I have not been inside the cell of the house I plan on using as my main base since I haven't done the quest yet.The House being the Varo Manor Mod.

 

Other than that I really haven't any issues other than these,

 

1.Some of pieces of Dwemer armor do not show the textures of New Dwemer Armor by Xander2077 but instead with the old rusty look of Vanilla

2.I slept in my house in Balmora in and my at the time companion Faeryn Sethandas just disappeared nowhere to be found

3.Both Julan and Faeryn Sethandas when I knew where he was where constantly stand in the combat pose and yet they have no weapon in their hand,I not sure if that changes when in actual combat since I have taken Julan out delving yet.

 

But other than that and now fixed crash caused by the Keyring Mod and MWSE's buginess,now fixed by removing the Keyring mod and using MAO as my only MWSE Mod.But other than those issues its been clear sailing and a really stable install.

 

Yeah I know that Hollajith is a really talented modder with great understanding of scripting,He's one of my favorite modders for morrowind,up there for me with Melchior Dahrk.

Ah. Yes.

 

Not much which can be done about that in this case. To stop it happening in the future look up "Safe Cells" in Mash's readme. You basically add in interior cell names for your house or other storage location and Mash won't clean up in those cells and potentially remove stuff. Like has happened for you.

Although, now I think on it I think "Safe Cells" is for Mash's Removers function. Debris Cells are those in the save game with no entry in any of your loaded plugins. So that function should just clear out old mod-added cells from mods you're not running any more.

Presumably Syclonix added scripts to his alchemy apparatus. For whatever reason those aren't firing. Check the readme to see if there's a command to restart the scripts. Otherwise you may have to buy those apparatuses (apparatii?) again

1 - Not sure how Xander2077 set-up his armour. Sounds like replacing vanilla textures rather than wholly new ones. Another replacer could well have overwritten his textures. Try reinstalling the mod. If you're using Mash's Installers move it lower in the install list

2 - Don't know that companion, check its readme. Most companion mods have a recall feature, like a ring

3 - Check Julan's readme for specific instructions for him. For the other one, from Emma:

Call up the console. Click on the npc, so that the name shows up at the top of the console. Type:

StartCombat player

That should help. She will probably not attack you, but if she will, just type again:

StopCombat

 

Or maybe start with StopCombat, then Start then Stop. Should reset him / her.

Yeah, Keyring seems to be buggy for a lot of people

If that's what the debris cell feature does than I have no clue why all my items that I stored in containers are now gone.Only the stuff that out and about on shelves or elsewhere in the cell was spared but everything in containers was wiped.

 

I checked the readme for the Oridinator Companion and no luck.I will have to try those commands for Julan to see if stops being in the combat pose when idle.

 

As for the Alchemy Mod,I gonna try the orignal version,the version I was using is the redux found here,http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44006/? which doesn't have a readme with this one,http://mw.modhistory.com/download-44-9765 which does and see if my problem fixes itself.

 

In regards to the Dwemer Armor Mod,I just reinstalled it all and see if that somehow fixes it,if not I have no clue on what to do since its a pluginless mod.
