I hope that they dont cut stuff that works to replace with trash. U ever notice how some great games will ruin minor details that over time drive u crazy, and sometimes fix em most of the time not; or theyll make a sequel that has cool new features but it guted ur old favorite 1s like da2 compared to dao srs wtf was da2? it was more action and even less land / substance i hope da3 keeps up the character devolopment from dao,its sweet modability ;) and the sweet action of da2 but add some space, i want to explore and be able to go on killin sprees but dont over do it like all mmos do (every quest feels the same). But srs this game is golden i got threw first run fellin cheated cuz well i cheated lol god items ruin gameplay(fyi), second run i tried bein a slave elf couldnt stand it bailed third run got amazing dungeon mods and stuff brand new game its like a sequel within the origin-al lol ; thanx to all the smart moders that put in the time to make this game like Flemeth(imortal).

I'm still playing DA:O after 3 or 4 years (can't remember). I'm still adding new mods from time to time. I keep coming back to this dated, yet marvelous, RPG. I never did finish DA2 or Skyrim. IMO, DA:O has nearly everything that Bioware should be focusing on in the development of DA3.

From DA:O keep --

1. the in-depth story

2. the intriguing intra-party banter

3. beautiful music, but with a SELECTION OF BARD SONGS THAT CAN BE REPEATED AS DESIRED

4. the ABILITY TO CREATE YOUR OWN MAIN CHARACTER!!!

5. interesting party NPCs that show their armor, weapons, etc, on screen

From DA2 --

1. DROP THE CANNED MAIN CHARACTER CONCEPT

2. ensure that a TOOLSET IS AVAILABLE FOR MODDERS WHEN THE GAME IS SHIPPED

Lessons learned from modders to be incorporated into DA3 (but give modders free rein to work their magic) --

1. dont use cookie cutter environments (same caverns, etc)

2. provide a much, much BIGGER world (allow some travel by sea)

3. more in-depth, challenging quests (tied to char levels)

4. more robust selections of armor and weapons, etc, with runes for everything!

5. more, more, more CC selections for face and hair, body color/shape, tattoos/scars

6. make certain that the Frost 2 graphics engine that is being used for DA3 really shines and wows us

7. incorporate a bigger world map that shows new expanded areas as they are triggered (by quest, etc)

8. more open world to explore, less of a sandbox approach to everything

9. better and more "M" rated content

10. don't use the same clothing/faces on NPCs (good grief!!!)

I guarantee that if Bioware simply repackages DA2 with nothing more than a graphics engine update, then they should stop now and call DA3 a bust. They need to go back to the roots, to what worked, to what everybody loved: Dragon Age: Origins. They should listen to their fans NOW, before it's too late. I dare say most players desire to create a character (Elf/Dwarf/Human/whatever) that reflects him/herself, not some graphics artist making that decision for us.

1. DROP THE CANNED MAIN CHARACTER CONCEPT

I agree with this, but I personally don't think they will change it. I fully expect a canned main character because that makes it much easier to have the player character fully-voiced. I think the fully-voiced player character was well-received with the public and that they'll be sticking with that.

8. more open world to explore, less of a sandbox approach to everything

Sandbox IS the open-world, some of you are still getting this backwards.

NOT Sandbox = Bioware games like DA:O, DA2, ME series. Game keeps you "on track" with the story, and steers you to accomplish the mission in the way intended.

Sandbox = Bethesda games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. You can do anything at anytime however you wish to get it done.

After playing both styles, I personally don't think the sandbox open-world adds much. I think Bioware games are a lot more fun for the deeper, better thought out story and engaging characters. I can play Bioware games without getting tired or taking a break, I was completely addicted to DA:O and the ME series. Bethesda games are slower paced with a lot of "hunt for this" or "hunt for that" quests which I find rather boring. In fact, the open world and having to find every location gets boring really quickly. Maybe for some, tedious exploring is fun, but not for me, which is part of the reason why I couldn't even stand to play Morrowind - you get nothing but crappy directions with no quest marker and no fast travel in that one. Sometimes those Bethesda games have made me sleepy enough to go take a nap. I used to think a sandbox open-world would add to the Bioware games, but after playing them all, I could definitely live without it. I'm not alone in this opinion, as my wife loved all the Bioware games, but Bethesda games bore her to tears so she refuses to play them.

Yup. The cost of voice acting (and to a lesser extent, the additional writing) is precisely the reason for the single player/character. I prefer the silent protagonist of BG-series/NWN-series/DAO-DAA to the fully voiced one of DA2, and absolutely loved the multiple options of DAO. But I think we're sol on this for DA3.

Very, very true. I quit Skyrim after about 100 hours and 30% of the achievements because it was just so boring to have to visit everywhere. Repeatedly. (Or worse, having to find some obscure, barely existing location with a non-unique name. )

Plus, the Bethesda stories and characters are second-rate at best. If the story, (not the plot; the story, the way it's told) doesn't hold my interest, why bother?

would absolutely love it if Dragon Age had a comeback worthy of Origins but with EA in the picture, I really doubt it's possible. I can't think of one instance where a company purchased by EA has gone on to become better and not worse. Traditionally, quality turns to s*** when EA gets involved, so sadly I think Bioware's days of glory and stellar products are over. I really hope I'm proven wrong, but I don't think I will be.

strongly disagree! Personally, I hate any kind of pornographic, explicit sexual scenes, same-sex relationships and other forms of immorality and vulgarity. This is a RPG video-game but not in any way a porn-movie. I do not understand people who like porn-mods .. It's all bullsh*t! Perhaps these people have some problems in psychological terms or problems in personal relationships that they want to look at this sh*t. I really do not know. But I am categorically against the presence of trash in the video-game.

much BIGGER world - yes

challenging quests - yes

more open world to explore - yes, of course!

but never, never, never porn in game!
