  1. Thanks for the tip. Although I finished the Minutemen ending and was able to answer my questions. Settlers will equip power armor without a fusion core if they have one in their inventory. So pulling fusion cores and putting them in settler's inventory is one way to allow settlers to use it, but prevent enemies from stealing it. Although if a settler uses a power armor, they will leave the fusion core in the armor.
  2. I don't believe gen 3 synths are terminator-esque, although I do think it would have been quite cool to have a gen 2.5 that were. Imagine shooting someone in the face, only to reveal a metal skull behind the skin or a glowing eyeball, or shooting their arm off and revealing metal parts, all the while they're still coming at you because they can ignore pain. Anyway, I think gen 3 synths mostly biological, virtually indistinguishable in anatomy, except they're made in a lab. I don't remember who said it, but I do remember someone in the game says the biological differences between synth and human are so small, they can only be detected in an autopsy. Also, I didn't catch where synths don't age at all. They could still age, but a synth child is unable to grow up. Growth and aging are two separate processes. An adult human ages, but no longer grows.
  3. I have the opposite problem. I see a great set of tits on some "slooty" outfit so I download it, but holy hell, it gives my character Kim Kardashian or J-Lo's badonkadonk. I love a giant rack, but find fat asses and wide hips to be a turn off. So far I haven't found any outfit/body mod that doesn't have giant ass and hips. Some even over-exaggerate the crack. Just too much emphasis on the poop chute for my taste.
  4. Any kneecapper weapon makes easy work of it, at least on Very Hard, never tried Survival. I used a simple Kneecapper Laser Rifle. A few hits and the fog crawler goes down and unable to move. Then you just shoot it a million times while it sits there unable to hurt you. Kneecapper rifle had very little damage even fully modded, so I had to switch to bigger damage weapons to finish the job, otherwise it would have taken forever. Took down Shipbreaker with kneecapper and it was cake. Kneecapper is kind of a cheaty weapon. Makes killing anything quite easy, as long as it can't shoot very fast. Enemies with gatling lasers are still quite dangerous even kneecapped.
  5. One "point of no return" I'm aware of is if you give Allen Lee the doctor's proof Avery is a synth, you will then side with Far Harbor against Acadia. Another might be accepting the quest from Tektus to disable Far Harbor's power. Not sure if you can accept it and just not do it. I'd guess accepting a quest to destroy Children of Atom might lock you in as well, but I never found anyone to give me that quest. You can actually destroy Far Harbor or Children of Atom at any time once you've retrieved the items from Dima's memories (and it will show in your quest log as optional things to do). You can destroy Acadia anytime before or after the storyline if you're aligned with BoS or The Institute. Obviously, destroying a faction before its storyline has ended will end it right then.
  6. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me either. If they really wanted to make the story make sense, they could say something like gen 3 synths may be virtually indistinguishable from real humans, but some things are not perfected. In fact, their brains don't work exactly the same as a human brain. They can be memory-wiped and controlled, personalities and memories uploaded, and when they're killed, they leave a Synth Component, so their brains are different and cybernetic in nature. Since their brains are different, one could say they just haven't perfected how to artificially construct a fully functioning organic human brain. Part of a human brain is the pituitary gland, responsible for production of human growth hormone among many other things. Could be this cybernetic brain just doesn't have a completely functioning pituitary gland so therefore they're not able to fully emulate human growth and development. Of course, it's just a game so I doubt they'd go to that level of detail. Deacon's use of the word "bigot" is probably appropriate given he thinks synths are human. A definition of bigot is, "a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race". Since Deacon now thinks synths are human, they would be like another race of human, so it would make sense that he'd think his past intolerance of them made him a bigot.
  7. I don't understand the dilemma, really. Being forever a child would for me be a blessing. I loved being a kid. 10yrs old was a happy time in my life. I'd go back to it in a heartbeat, if I could. The only fear I had when I was 10, was the fear of having to grow up. It sucks just as bad as I thought it would. I hate being an adult. The only cool things about being an adult is having money and being able to own/drive cars. I'd happily give it up to be a kid again. Maybe unlike most people, I never grew up, I only grew older. I clearly remember being 10 and I wasn't really any different than I am now. Maybe now I'm quite a bit fatter, hairier, uglier, and cynical, but that's about it. How long could I stand being 10? Probably until the sun supernovas and destroys the earth with it. I might rather forever be 16, 18, or 20, but hell, I'd take 10. Lucky kid, that synth-Shaun.
  8. I like to leave power armor sitting around for my settlers to use, but I've noticed enemies can steal them too. Is there any way to prevent enemies from stealing it, but still allowing settlers to use it? I've read removing the fusion core works, but then settlers won't use it. Would it work to remove fusion cores, but put one in each settler's inventory? Will settlers autonomously use a power armor whose frame was stolen from raiders and thus has a "Steal" option when I use it?
  9. I always play as a female character. Maybe because I am a straight male, but I just like females better in general and feel like I get attached to a female character more. I care more about her story and her successes, than I would a male. I also feel like it's a more unique story, because throughout history, a strong male is your stereotypical hero. A strong female is more of an underdog. I'm also attracted to strong females IRL, so there's that. I sort of agree with OP, I prefer to play in 3rd person. Well, kind of have to, 1st person makes me dizzy and nauseous for some reason, but even if it didn't, I'd still use 3rd person. So like OP, I prefer to look at a female character. I'm not an ass man and don't really like looking at asses in general (I'm entirely a breast man), but if I'm to look at anyone's backside, I definitely prefer it to be an attractive female. I don't really think of the character as "me", but as a character in a story that I happen to be controlling like a diety. The voice acting doesn't bother me, I think they are both talented voice actors. Although often the voice/accent doesn't fit my character. It would have been great to have multiple voice choices like Saints Row, but at the very least, I wish they had a voice pitch slider like in Sims games (Saints Row 4 also had this, but anything other than default pitch sounds very metallic). No gender identity discomforts here, my character doesn't have my name, my looks, my gender, my voice, or anything. If she flirts with a guy, it's she who flirts with them, not me. Actually, my character flirts indiscriminately with both male and female. She has a lot of love to give. Who am I to judge? The smiling does look kind of weird, mostly because it's a derpy kind of expression.
  10. Anyone know if there is a FO4 mod for long straight female hair, pulled to one side? If not, I'd like to find one. Something resembling this Skyrim hair. http://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/110/images/68311-0-1438730794.jpg Or this Sims 3 hair. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/GnatGoSplat/Sims/Screenshot-387-whole_zpsvg1ba3z0.jpg
  11. Huh, cool, I'll have to try that sometime. Are you able to assign them tasks?
  12. The story is a bit weak, and cliche in parts. I think they could have done so much more with it. I've been playing a female character, and I feel like she is rather uncharacteristically indifferent to what happened to her child. I know it's a game and not a movie drama, but I feel like there should have been... more. Character development to me seems pretty weak. A few examples: Cait is supposed to change after her personal quest, but I really found her no different. Her dialogue and attitude towards the PC is still pretty much the same as when I met her. You'd think Danse would change if he survives Blind Betrayal, and he does give some pretty good dialogue during the quest, but afterwards, he is exactly the same, and some of his random pro-Brotherhood dialogue even makes no sense given his current circumstance. Little things like that make the characters seem pretty flat. I agree there are a lot fewer interesting characters and side-stories in FO4 as well. I distinctly remember the side quests you mentioned in FO3 even though it's been 5-years since I played it. There haven't been any side quests in FO4 that are particularly memorable. I enjoy FO4, but I think one playthrough and then saving before any points of no return so I can play each ending, will be enough. I can't imagine I'd feel the urge to do another complete playthrough.
  13. Did you install a mod to make your building look like that? I've never noticed any nice clean walls like that. I only have ratty looking shack walls.
  14. I sided with Jack because I cheated and read the Wiki and saw Lorenzo is a creep. I managed to end up with 5 vials of Mysterious Serum anyway. Tried it once, wasn't that exciting, but I was already at pretty high level when I started this quest and only have difficulty on High so I'm practically invincible anyway. I'm never too worried about radiation, I had hundreds of Radaway before I started selling it off for caps.
  15. That happened to me when I was too slow to exit the bunker. Took my sweet time piddling around collecting loot from the bunker and when I went outside, didn't even get the opportunity to pass a speech check. Had to reload and follow Danse out to get the opportunity to pass the speech check. When I didn't get the speech check, I had saved right before Maxon kills Danse so I reloaded and tried killing Maxon first. Danse didn't turn hostile when I killed Maxon. The BoS NPCs waiting in the vertibird turned hostile and all the BoS quests failed.
  16. She has a General American accent. This refers to the spectrum of ‘standard’ English spoken by newscasters, TV actors, and a large percentage of middle-class Americans. It's not a New England accent. Most (or all?) of the generic settlers do have a New England accent though.
  17. Yep, with as much dialogue as there is for the player character, I'd think it wouldn't be difficult to cut & splice something quite acceptable and IMO, would be far better and less immersion-breaking than a silent character. How much work would it be to match a different voice using audio engineering? I've played around with Audacity and haven't been able to make one voice sound like another. Granted, there are probably much better programs for that. I do think if the voice is noticeably different, it would be very immersion-breaking. The Companion Vilja mod for Skyrim has some added voices to existing NPCs and it made me think, "yikes!" when I heard them. The Vilja mod for Oblivion mostly just left the additional dialog on NPCs silent and that was also very immersion-breaking for me.
  18. I'm all for experimenting but for goodness sake ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP! Guess I should have mentioned that earlier, but good luck on the recovery!
  19. You can probably cut & splice existing dialog and make it sound fairly decent. That was done on the Bittercup companion for FO3 and I expanded on that when I ported her for FONV and added more dialog options. It may have sounded a bit William Shatner-ish, but overall quite passable.
  20. The slm command works fine on player character and also to change body shapes, but it doesn't work on faces. At least, not when I tried it on Curie. There are workarounds like this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3391300-using-console-to-change-npc-appearance/ Although it totally replaced her face so you won't be able to do small changes with that workaround, you pretty much have to make an all-new face. Faceripper would work. You could start a new game and create a new player character, make her look the way you want, then rip that face and put it on Magnolia. Creation kit would work best, but who knows how long it'll be before that comes out.
  21. Yeah, it's definitely a bit tedious. I usually skip the step of having to throw stuff on the ground by having my companion get it in the first place, but routing issues, their slowness to follow orders, and the fact they can only pick up one item at a time when overloaded probably doesn't really make it any less tedious than just dropping the stuff on the ground. I think the brahmin follower idea sounds the most realistic. I can envision carrying capacity upgrades in multiple stages. First, you just have pockets. Can't carry anything but a few pounds max. Then you can buy a backpack, which maybe increases carrying capacity to 25-50 lbs depending on size of the pack. Then you can get a brahmin with a small side-saddle pack that can carry more weight, 50-100 lbs. You can then buy him pack upgrades to carry 100+. The Provisioner brahmins look like they're carrying 1000 lbs. Maybe it could be upgraded with things like super strength cybernetic implants or adamantium skeleton to carry multiple thousands of pounds. If you overload him, it starts to affect his speed. Say, a couple hundred pounds overloaded, he's moving very slowly. More than that, he just sits on his ass and refuses to move. I'm liking the brahmin idea, I would use such a mod.
  22. Resident Evil games also have a system where you can only include as much as will fit in your pack, and that includes ammo. It's almost a mini-game in itself finding best way to orient and arrange the packs of your and your companion. I'm personally fine with it the way it is. I don't need that much realism. Just thought I'd mention that if you have a companion, you can ask your companion to carry unlimited amount of junk. You can't transfer into their inventory more than they can carry, but you can ask them to pick up unlimited amount of stuff. That's not very realistic either, but since you're suggesting unlimited junk carrying capability, that's one way to do it without a mod.
  23. You're in luck, I just looked these up over the weekend wanting to do the same thing. In the console (press ~ key to get into console), type tm to toggle the HUD. Keep in mind the console disappears too, but it's still open so you'll be blind typing. You can type screenshot right from the console to save a screenshot. Other useful commands for screenshots are tgp to freeze the game and tfc to allow you to freely move the camera around. You'll need to exit the console after typing tfc to move the camera. Retype the command to turn it off.
  24. I'd like to see a functioning bathtub and washing machine/dryer combo that can be placed in settlements. I envision this could be very simple in how it works: Placing a bathtub in a settlement results in settlers having clean skin next time you fast travel to the settlement. Simulating that they've been using it when you're not around.Placing a washing machine/dryer combo results in settlers clothes being replaced by clean variation of it, if a clean variation of it exists, next time you fast travel to the settlement. For example, give a settler "Dirty Gray Suit", next time you see them, they'll be wearing a "Clean Gray Suit". Simulating that they've been using it when you're not around.Washing machine/dryer combo gets an "Activate" interaction that replaces all Dirty items in player's inventory with Clean equivalents, if there is one.Washing machine/dryer combo should be placed in a structure that's getting electrical power. I don't think it would necessarily need its own wire inlet, it could work like interior lights. Also if any of the above are possible, there could be an option that removing bathtub and washer/dryer results in settlers and clothing becoming dirty again next time you visit.OR it could also be a very ambitious/complex mod: Settlers actually perform bathing animations in the tub to get clean.Settlers actually performing washer/dryer animations to clean clothes.New Clean textures for clothes that don't have a clean equivalent.
  25. I don't know the specific mods the OP is talking about, but since we're talking about face mods, I think the answer is common sense: Many people find a youthful appearance to be more attractive, and that's true of both men and women. Surely you've seen the ads for cosmetic products promising, "younger, clearer, smoother skin". It's a selling point, because people prefer it. Without seeing the specific mods, I have no idea what facial features were changed to make them more "child-like", but some people do prefer a more cutesy look. I personally do too. For example, between Natalie Portman and Alison Brie, both attractive, but I find Alison more attractive because she's cute as a button. I think people are overboard on labeling everything as "objectifying women". There is a big difference between objectification, and attraction. There is nothing wrong with someone making women in their game look the way they find attractive, even if it's not particularly realistic. Games are a fantasy world, after all. There's a reason porn actresses look the way they do, because a lot of people find them attractive. Besides, porn actresses are people too. Who am I to judge? Seems like a lot of judgmental people are patting themselves on the back for being so pro-woman, but consider how dangerous that kind of attitude is. That opens the door for abhorrent ideas like blaming rape victims for dressing "too sexy" or that a woman deserved to be murdered for being a prostitute.
