AGreatWeight
2) Yes. There are a lot of drugs. But other than Raiders and Cait, you don't see the gritty side of it; like finding people that OD'd or have a serious addiction. I mean, I know first hand that drug addicts will do just about anything to get their next fix.You discover this early in Megaton. The guy stealing from his family to support his habit. Mama Murphy is always fiending for a fix. You also have the option to make her od if you persuade her to use 'the sight' too much. Then there is that kid at the Drumlin Diner who's an addict, and the dealer who is hassling him and his mom unless you intervene (Admittedly, it's not very fleshed out, as in being able to check up periodically on his progress getting off the stuff)That's two examples, and both are very early on in the game. Bernt
You want it grim? Start thinking about what you actually are doing in this game. Or read a couple of chapters of my "diary" in which I do exactly that in order to try and write the game in a plausible manner. Then I suddenly found myself in a very grim world in which I had to do some pretty nasty things in order to jsut get by.What I miss the most as compared to earlier Fallout games - especially 1, 2 and Tactics- is the dark humor so prevalent in those games. Fkemman11
Look. I enjoy playing FO4. But, I see what this game could have been. I'm talking about subsistence of the hightest degree. Where anarchy reigns supreme. Where you would be thirsty, hungry, and sick damn near all the time. Where you are driven by the need to survive. You should feel satisfied with having found a functional weapon, a few precious bottles of clean water, and maybe some meat from a dead dog you found two days ago. All those houses in the area have been picked clean- the only thing you found was a pen. There is still material around to use for building stuff- but you don't know how to build even something basic. You know instinctively that you can't trust anyone that you meet. You are cold, tired, and afraid. You are alone. This would just be the beginning of your playthrough in MY FO4. I think this level of "immersion" would make the simplest things in the game that much more rewarding. You throw in all the other aspects of human depravity and you've got yourself an experience you won't forget anytime soon. :nuke:

What you want is a different game or a heavily modded Fallout game. Vanilla Fallout is best described as kinda post apocalyptic with glimpses of the horror that could be and a good dose of humor. I think the reason so many fans favor NV is because it's more serious, but I never felt desperate there either. The gameworld is so beautiful and there are caps, weapons and food everywhere you go.
