samroski
I'm never gonna bother with training industrial any higher than 3 (what I have now)... its just completely useless to me :PI got Caldari Insdustrial V a couple of hours ago!!! The training was very painful- and I have this feeling that it may end up being an anti-climax. But I am not letting this feeling get me down at all :) Bought, and have started training for Caldari Freighter (rank 10- level I is one hour 10 min)- though at downtime (currently) I am training Transport Ships to level II. Plan to search the universe for the cheapest Charon and buy it later this evening. Have been monitoring the price and am unlikely to find anything below 895 million ISK. Will also get the 2 transport ships, and thus blow away all my life savings in a few hours :)Also: http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=625 :(Do you use Linux? Maula Jat has a Mac notebook and gets half the FPS when using the Mac OS, and prefers windows for Eve play.
TheTerminator2004
Rank 10  Isn't that the same rank as the Titan skill? :P What bonuses do you get per level in it? Hopefully nothing particularly useful... would be a shame to need to train it to level IV... would make training Industrial V seem positively thrilling in comparison... As for it being an anticlimax, I personally don't think it'd be as useful for trading as you presumably hope it will be... finding enough stuff to move from one place to another to make it worth getting must be a monumental task lol If ever you join a big 0.0 alliance though, it would come in VERY useful indeed - every alliance needs freighter pilots, to bring supplies in from empire. Probably some good trading opportunities too - there's always high demand, but very short supply in 0.0 outposts. That's my opinion anyway :P And no, I don't use Linux any more - but I used to, quite a lot. I never had any performance problems myself, in fact sometimes it would run faster than it did in Windows. In fact, the only reason I stopped using it was because the effort of having to work with 2 operating systems was too big - and as Eve was about the only thing I used very often that worked in Linux (apart from firefox etc ofc), it was obvious which one had to go :P
samroski
Rank 10  Isn't that the same rank as the Titan skill?er... the Titan skill is rank 16 :) and costs about 5.5 billion -a little out of my league at least for another month :) yeah- I bought the charon and a crane and still not sure what to do with them. Transported 33 mil. units of tritanium to Jita- which sold out in less than 10 minutes!! BTW tritanium is at an all time high of 4.24 Unfortunately there is a 5% cargo and 5% velocity bonus per level of freighters- and as there are no slots, the only way to get the cargo up is by training. At freighter V- you could get about 1000k m3 space in a Charon- which is the max for any freighter I believe. I have no intention of currently training to level IV - but I suppose level III will have to be done... Not heading to 0.0 in a freighter. Will use the crane for that- quite like it. 9 AU warp speed- covert ops cloak. Great stuff.
TheTerminator2004
Oh, my bad - I thought the highest was rank 10. All I can say is I'm glad I dont have to train up the titan skill lol And you can use that freighter to move stuff for me :D You can be my living hauler alt... :P Incidentally, after apocrypha, therell be no such thing as an insta-alt anymore, so if you want a good trade alt without having to do any training, you should make it now lol
samroski
You should never say that (you do not have to train for a titan), as I have earmarked you as the future Titan pilot for our Eve conquering alliance (in 6 years time). It would be a pleasure to be your hauler alt- any time :) You continue to deliver bad news. So what will happen to alts now? I already have 2 trade alts- who came with >50 market orders each - though I do not like the looks of one of them -so plan to re-make her some time- but if what you say is true I must do it ASAP. samroski
I really like my new Crane. Basically a Badger with red trimmingshttp://i39.tinypic.com/2a6368g.jpg But it is agile and fast. Warps at 9 AUhttp://i44.tinypic.com/vhsuow.jpg
TheTerminator2004
hmmm, not bad, looks like a good ship. I'm currently training towards a covops, ready for apocrypha, though I need to make a bit more money before I can get one - I've decided to give manufacturing a go, so hopefully I'll make enough from that to do it... I've invested most of my money in it, so if it doesnt work out, I'm completely screwed :P I actually spent an hour the other night making a spreadsheet to work out all the costs etc... yes, I know, I'm sad xD
samroski
I am sure you'll do well with manufacturing. Which reminds me that I totally forgot about that courier contract :) Did a level 4 mission with a corp mate instead today- and will get your work done later today. Have installed 3x CCCs on my Raven and can now nearly perma-run an XL Booster- even with my pathetic engineering skills. Plan to train all these support skills after the update using the skill queue -refuse to wait around for the smaller ones to finish. BTW have you heard of the sleeper rats? Somebody said that they are going to be the nastiest rats in Eve. The ship I'll be using for your work:http://i42.tinypic.com/15ebl9s.jpgEdit: Had that other Charon in the warp tunnel with me. Quite nice- especially with the LONG warps in a Charon.
TheTerminator2004
I didn't know you missioned as well - I thought you were entirely industry focused... that means youre better than me at everything now, not just selling stuff :P But speaking of missions, does anyone here mission for a corp with agents near korsiki? Spacelane patrol, or Peace & Order Unit or somesuch... if so, mind letting me tag along with you on a few missions? I need standings for level 3s, but I really dont want to have to grind through all the 1s and 2s to get it =/ lol As for the sleepers... theyre not necessarily harder, just more human. So they fight like humans, and can use/be affected by ewar etc. So I'd imagine it would be a lot harder if you were in a pve ship, but with a pvp fit and a modicum of skill, they wont be too bad. samroski
My corp does missions regularly in Forge. I did a few level II and a couple level III missions many months ago, but was not motivated to continue. I also do not mind tagging along- especially in level IVs - as there is so much happening to your ship- and I love the way ships tank all the damage. Will let you know if I'm involved in a mission. Edit:but with a pvp fit and a modicum of skill, they wont be too badSo for me they're going to be impossible :)
