How do I report mods taken from Nexus?

Hi,

I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong area but I want to do what feels right.

How do I report mods taken from Nexus?

There is a small group community that has MAs uploading "stolen" and rule breaking mods from Nexus and uploading them to bethesda.net in the Work in Progress section and "private" sections too. I knew they were up to no good when an MA uploaded SuperB Serana, Venetia Serana, Resurrect Serana and Elvenia mods. I checked here and read that the MA doesn't want his Serana mod uploaded to any other sites because its Nexus Exclusive.

The name of that group is Skyrim Mod Community and is at google plus. You can openly see posts there and how the owner threatened to ban folks if they leak their secret mods.

I hope this doesn't make us console gamers look worse. I am not a Serana fan so I lost those mods after deleting my mod space because of "phantom MBs" taking up space even when mods were deleted.

Please forward this to the Skyrim MAs if possible.

Take care.

yeah they cant look much worse. no offense to you or any of the good responsible console users. people like that make you guys look terrible when most console users are good people.

to report them start by finding the links and providing them then report them to Bethesda. by providing the links we can get multiple people reporting them.

You should also be able to report the Google Plus pages for copyright violations as well.

I would've posted links but those guys at that mod community are very smart, they'll post a stolen or illegal mod and upload it in Work in Progress or a link to the mod in private and then quickly delete the mod.

No offense taken, At least you can see their leader (Blilly 2 smooth) and the few MAs who uploaded mods they weren't suppose to. What has me confused is that a member of that community use to be against stolen and illegal mods, now he's cheerfully standing by those MAs who are doing wrong. I'd mention his name but I don't want to get in trouble with you folks.

I will see if it's possible to report them thru google, hopefully those threads are up where a few MAs were hurrying people up to download those mods.

See y'all folks later.

snip.

Greetings mate.

First I want to say hats off to you for being a good person. I will now share some of my experiences involving this with you and anyone who reads this thread.

I created a website back when the mod theft was happening for Fallout 4 and Darren83 was labeled the bad guy.

Link: http://modpiracytracking.freeforums.net/

It was going pretty well, we even developed a system of tracking private/hidden mods. But there were a few problems.

1.) The only help we got after advertising on bethesda.net and nexus was me, another mod author and a forum user here, we also got the help of two xbox one users for testing and video recording for evidence.

2.) It became a full time job with the lack of support.

3.) It became apparent that mod authors were only interested in helping themselves.

We had a success rate of about 95% for getting mods removed, but no one seemed to care, the amount of work were were putting into it was not appreciated.

There is a bigger problem. You see, reddit is actually just as bad as bethesda.net and it is pc users stealing from mod authors there and they do not care. reddit is disgusting. There are russian sites that do the same thing and I think Chinese too, there are also underground groups that do the same thing.

It is vulture culture. No respect goes to the mod author. Something fundamentally has to change to deal with the big issue.

I mentioned on bethesda.net to try and pursued some of the enablers that, "All you are doing is ensuring that person will never share their mods again." to which I was replied, "Oh well, someone else will make the same kinds of mods, no big deal." To which I would say, no one will make another Summerset Isle the way I did, No one will make another Ordinator, Vilja, or Inigo, No one will make another bounties 1, 2 and 3. Every mod has a part of the person who made it in it. That soul of the mod is not replaceable.

This mod theft issue has been going on for years, it is just happening on a bigger scale because of console.

The big problem.

1.) Super popular mod stolen from Nexus and uploaded to Bethesda.net

2.) Taken down after 2 weeks or 2 months.

3.) Re-uploaded to Bethesda.net by a different user.

The problem is that their system can not be like youtube or Nexus because of the scale, it needs to be vetted or curated. If you consider how many mods are on Bethesda.net. right now there is just over 7000, consider most of those are on at least 2 platforms, you are looking at 3500 mods, of those 3500 mods, many were released about a year ago. To say that Bethesda couldn't vet 7-10 mods a day with 2 staff is a joke.

What will make it worse is when they implement paid mods again on their platform. The only way to know a mod is stolen would be to pay for it.

This is heading in a direction that is making some modders not interested in sharing mods any more.

Unfortunately you are in the minority of caring about the long term effects of mods, with Bethesda behind the wheel of bethesda.net, I don't expect any good to come of this.

When I made my Skyrim mods, I never considered anyone would want to steal them, now, that is a possibility.

Why should I continue to share mods?

Will I be attacked?

Will people steal my work?

What if Bethesda allows paid mods again, will I have to buy my mod from someone else to see if it was stolen?

As a mod author, there at times seems to be more disadvantages to sharing ones work than advantages.

Man this is why im so aggressive on the subject. It is irritating on so many levels. People just dont understand. I recall when LL used to be packed full of stolen content. Though i have heard they have started cracking down on it. i rarely use the site and only for one armor set that isnt available on the Nexus so i dont know how accurate that is. They have their reasons man. There are rules for falsely accusing people or accusing in a public forum. The contact button at the bottom of the page is a better place for reporting things like that as well using the report button when you see actual rule/legal violations.

Added note: i dont speak for the mods im just basing this statement off of previous matters and events.
