well... lets see draugrs afraid of the dark. nah..

can you imagine the *censored* fest of forcing people to use light spells and torches in vanilla... really

dont get me wrong I have ultra dark mods and swear by them but the majority of people expect the light in caves. it would take more time otherwise and that would suck yanno..

So everyones done it. They've walked into a set of ruins and it's been all lit and cozy. But does anyone find it strange that there is lit candles and big basins of fire? I find it rather annoying, I mean why would they put all these light spells and torchs into the game if the player never use the. I know there is the time when you fire a magelight at a dragon while pissing around, and theres those times when a mage places a trap and you use the old magelight trick to get by it. But inless your roleplaying or trying to fight with a torch when is it ever really needed? If there is no answer I guess we can only say that Draugr are affraid of the dark. Why else would they light up underground caverns that haven't been entered for a few hundred years?

Your display is too bright. Turn down the settings so that you do need your own light source in dark areas. There are mods that can help too if your monitor is still too bright.

Draugr using light to see doesn't make them afraid of the dark. You need light. Are you afraid of the dark?

Also, read Amongst the Draugr. You'll understand them better and why they aren't always sleeping; they have duties.

The internal lighting is sometimes grossly inconsistent. There are spaces with candles and such which I think is ok, and I have my settings so that the unlit areas are dark and require a torch, but sometimes there are absurdly bright areas which are very ugly, like the Ratway outside of Esbern's door (super bloom).

I'd rather see lighting kept low key throughout though, aside from mood lighting like skylights or fires. Some nice dreary ambient lighting + a torch with decent illumination would really increase the atmosphere in those long dungeons.

Quite amusing!

First, yes I'm aware, but Hircine is one of the evil ones.

We can't base who is evil or not. We see the Dadreic Princes once per game, and they make you do something. The Dadreas are in a moral greyzone. Neither good, nor evil. They are immortal, so there is nothing called good or evil for them. They do what pleases them, how it pleases them. Hircine is not making you do what she does for fun, she makes you do it because of her sphere: the hunt.

Every Daedra send you on a quest which is related to the Dadreic Prince in some way, whether it is revenge, or to get rid of a traitor.

Calling her "evil" off the bat is not right. With that logic you are evil: You kill lots of people constantly. No, your character is in a moral grayzone too. You kill what you seem unworthy, like bandits, and you let towns people live because you do not fear they will run a dagger through you.

It would have made far more sense if the player had to light them as they went along.

Best idea I've seen. Wish that were the case. Reason to carry a torch, or use the novice Destruction spell Flames, to light braziers and such as you go along. Would also make Khajiit nightsight worth a damn.

Agreed. Pools/trails of lamp oil could be put to good effect for igniting.. If controlled, and doesn't blast items to the four corners.

i don't know how to quote but Hircine is a male

Gender is irrelevant among Daedra but yes, Hircine most often takes the form of a male.

Boethiah being female kind of made me do a doubletake, but apparently he's sometimes depicted as female.
