Kaspar482
I'd like to make a cape/cloak with physics enabled. Is it possible to just make a cape, add some bones to it and add physics? Now I suppose it couldn't be that easy, or is it? However I don't know how to export something like that out of blender into Skyrim. I don't know how the engine handles stuff like that, for example: - Is there physics collision detection?- Can I restrict movement in physics enabled bones? Any info appreciated! Perraine
Err ... simplest way I can think of, (and I'll admit I'm a noob when it comes to messing with meshes) would be to load up the Nightingale Armor .nif and have a look at that. Buy default it has a cape, so you should be able to get some idea of how the game handles it. Maybe even copy over the "bones" onto your mesh and see what happens
ub3rman123
I don't think Skyrim supports true physics, as in you seeing your cloak fluttering in the breeze, but it IS possible (albeit tricky) to rig a cape up to your legs. Downside is that it looks ridiculous on occasion, such as sneaking.
Ghogiel
- Is there physics collision detection?- Can I restrict movement in physics enabled bones?yes on both accounts. But probably can't have havoked physics on live actors as was the case in previous games. I don' think anyone has really tried in skyrim though
ub3rman123
I recall that Fire Emblem cape someone made that was rigged to the tail bones, worked pretty well in looking like it fluttered when you jumped. Are those bones still available?
clorox42
I Don't think it's impossible to make one, but it might be difficult. Edited January 18, 2012 by clorox42

Perraine
There is also the Dragon Priest mesh, which, from memory, has about 40 skirt/cape bones <shrug>

He even has a howto in the description, ill check that out!

It's cool and all, but it is skeletal animation all the way and nothing to do with live physics on actors. the only physics would have been simmed on the tata bones when it was animated and then baked to keyframes.
