MRG
Do any members here have children, namely daughters? I have 1 & she turned 11 yesterday. No naturally she has a bunch of friends over from school for a slumber party since they are on Easter Break from school. So now I have a house full of screaming, giggling girls, which is fine since I love kids & can easily act just as silly as they do. (My daughter pulled me aside an hour ago to tell me that all of her friends love me & now don't want to go home tomorrow.. ) I have a single child & boy is she a hand full, as all girls are, but I only have 1 girl. Last week a friend from work let me in on a little secret of his. He has 14 kids, 7 of which are girls. Seven!! OMG, I don't know what I would do with more than one girl running around. As it is, i'm the only male in the family & there are 5 of us here. (2 female cats & a girl Turtle) So the estrogen is thick here where I live. Now I have a house full of girls on top of that. Well a buffet dinner of pizza, pizza & more pizza, not to mention all the soda-pop they could drink & ice cream they could eat later, they wanted to watch a scary movie. Told me in no uncertain terms, that if I didn't let them watch a scary movie, that they would wait until I fell asleep & then put makeup on me as I slept. But i'm a man damnit & I put my foot down. I begged them to please not paint-me-up to look like my wife. Of course they all cracked up, while I got a scowl from the missus. After much talking & screaming, the scary movie was out, but now they all settled on the movie "Terminator 3". Thats a rated R movie. So after each child screaming over the next that their parents let them watch rated R movies (Yeah Right) I asked them if they thought their parents would say yes, if I called them. Thinking they would back douwn they all screamed yes. So I spent the last 30 minutes on the phone talking to all the partens of the kids over here asking them if they could watch a rated R movie & "Terminator 3" in particular. I got the OK from all parents. I thought the roof was gonna blow off from all the excited screaming. They begged me to come out & watched the movie with them, batting their eyelashes saying they might get scared of the dark...... freddycashmercury
Dude. I don't have kids, what with me being 15 and all, but I totally sympathize. My sister, age 12, does stuff just like that. I am not in charge, so fortunately, I do not have to deal with the movie situation, but I get attacked by mobs of 11-12 year old girls when my sister has friends over. May the Force be with you. Vagrant0
Just keep telling yourself that if it was a bunch of guys, it'd probably be worse in different ways. Male tweens tend to be less interested in watching movies, and eating junkfood, and more about causing mischief. And hopefully, they aren't going through a pyro phase. Best case scenerio is that they end up rough housing, and break something minor, like a TV. And yelling at them, only makes things worse. But atleast it isn't warm enough for them to sneak out and spread their damage to the rest of the neighborhood. Atleast girls can gather and maintain some level of peace. Sure, they may spend half the night talking and giggling about one thing or another, but atleast you know that your cat won't be shaved in the morning. Not necessarily true, actually. The girls I know once shaved off one of my friend's eyebrows, and put shaving cream in his hand.
ninja_lord666
Wow, that sucks. All those girls...How have you not lost your sanity, how!?
Malchik
I think most fathers start worrying when the parties are mixed. Your house sounds like the top of the bus I used to use to get to work. Invest in ear plugs.
Chesto
At least a house full of hysterical little girls would smell better than the male equivalent. And Malchik's 'socks'!
Marcus Wolfe
As an elder brother, I know the chaos of an all girl sleep over party. The noise, noise noise noise! It's terrible. I can't imagine what it would be as a parent. Truth be told, if my sister's friends weren't so scared of me, I might get in on this sort of thing and actually enjoy it. MRG
Well, it's over & all children have gone home. I had to go to bed at 11:30PM, because I had to work very early this morning, so all the girls were asleep when I left. So on my way home from work, I call home & my wife picks up. I could right away that something was wrong just by the tone of her voice. For one thing, she told me she was very tired, since the girls fell asleep around 3am. The second thing was that this was the 1st & last time a slumber party was going to be held at our house with the same group of girls. Came to find out, there was a lot of drama between some of the girls & so problems began to arise. some girls not playing with others & so being left out, they began to "lie" about what other girls said or did, with my wife catching a few in the middle of the lies. Then if that wasn't bad enough, a few of the girls began to act sneaky, getting into stuff they were told to leave alone, such as my wifes scrap booking stuff. They were told NOT to touch anything on my wifes crafts desk. Well they snuck into it & then began to draw pictures with my wifes expensive calligraphy pens & these special gel pens. Then they began to draw on themselves & then got ink all over our new couch. Then, my wife caught them going through the cupboards in the bathroom & when asked what they were doing, they said nothing from behind the door, then my wife heard them giggling. Then she caught them going through the fridge helping themselves. Where are their parents & what are they teaching them? This is not proper company behavior. I learned at a very young age, that while over at another persons house, there are rules just like at home & one of those rules was to ASK before taking. Then we noticed that a few of the girls do not have any personal hygiene habits, as they would not "whipe" or flush, even after being told to via the generic "Ok girls, make sure you wash your hands before eating" comment. Now my wife also had a big, special breakfast planned of Pancakes, bacon, biscuts, waffles, sausage & juice. When it was all out, they grabbed all they could & then didn't eat it. An expansive waste. Then they wanted to keep eating & then not eating what they took. Another rule I was taught as a youngster, to eat what I take. There was more, but whats done is done. The one girl thats still here, my wife & I like the best. She is welcome here anytime, as she has excellent manners & is very nice, if not a little too shy. she has been over for a sleepover one before & I know her dad. Sigh..... -MRG
