savage1987
Installed skyrim HD and a couple of other mods just now. I was in the cavern for the Gaulderson amulet quest. I finished that, forged and took the amulet, and walked around outside for a bit, then as soon as I fast traveled to Markarth it just crashes back to Windows desktop. Is this a common problem with mods interfering or installing badly? Any way to work out which one is causing the issue from a log file etc? And possibly most importantly, how do I uninstal the mods again (I manually installed them), since they put files in a few different folders? Any help appreciatedcheers,Sam
PaladinRider
I suggest using the search feature as you are not the first to ask this question. Now I'm no expert, but installing texture mods such as Skyrim HD will put more stress on your computer - if you can't run it, then you can't run it. To uninstall, look for the mod's readme. If you haven't read the readme then do so, and shame on you for posting a thread before reading it! It's not always a case of which one is causing the issue. Say you ahve Mod A and Mod B. Individually, everythings good and nothing will go wrong. When both are activated, you will experience a crash. It's not really fair in this case to simply blame one of them. The best thing to do though is to deactivate them one at a time.

The system should have no difficulty handling it Phenom II x4 955BE @4GHzCrosshair Formula IVMSI HD6870only 4GB RAM but I'm sure that's enough since the HD pack says it needs 2 and there was nothing else open... I'll check it all out in more depth later on but I am kinda annoyed at the moment :(
Krawll
I can't say for sure what causes your crash but i know there are a few mods out there that are not compatible with old versions of the game . I play with the original version of the game which means i've never downloaded any of the updates released by Bethesda and because of that , one of the mods i installed was crashing my game right after the LOGO . As soon as i removed it , the game started working fine again. So i'm just saying that the problem might be a compatibility issue related to the version of the game you're playing rather than two mods not being compatible with eachother. One advice i can give you is to always try your game after each mod you install . It's harder to determine which mod is causing the problem if you install a whole bunch before launching your game . hope this helps Krawll Edited January 25, 2012 by Krawll
Dragten
I have had plenty of crashes on fast travel myself, but they were not caused by mods. And funny enough, the crashes disappeared the next day. I don't remember when I had a CTD last time, but whenever it was, it crashed like 10 times on fast travel, on 1 day. nosisab
Indeed, you have not stated the version of the game you are running, assuming it is the last stable 1.3.10 you should not have problems with the increased textures, if it is prior to it you would need to have some sort of 4gb aware patching for the executable in memory. Still, if is the case you should update the game because the 1.3.10 patch has been by far the most stable version I played to date. I'm testing the beta 1.4 and experimenting a few random CTDs which might be related to mods, so I may need to disable them and try a new game, testing and including mods again one at a time till finding the cause and not willing to bother with all this trouble because the stable version is nigh and can change everything again. When accepting to install mods at such "unstable" phase of the game, with deep changing patches with high chances of breaking mods and the other way around, you are implicitly accepting the risks and must be willing to follow all your installed mods for newest versions all the time a change is done. And be prepared to uninstall a few mods until they are updated and for some mods this may break your current character development (not that is something you stated at the OP, just a warning about potential dangers). jet4571
If it is a texture pack or a replacer that has a mesh just unzip to a new folder then look for those files that was unzipped in your skyrim data folder and delete them when you find them. That's not hard to do really and I dont see how people can be "I cant uninstall it". they are just loose files that you just delete since there is no worrying about registry entries and such. Dragten
You have never patched it? It patches automatically through steam.
