gmg2dave
Just recently started a new game and I've encountered a problem. This bug did not show up in my first game if that helps. I got the group from Concord to Sanctuary, and Preston told me to talk to Sturges. I did so and he started the quest Sanctuary. But when I tried to build beds, the game never recognized that I had done so. Tried using console commands to advance the quest, and even though I set the stage to the beds having been built, Sturges is still whining about beds. But what is weird, is that according to the overlay at the top of the screen when I enter the workshop in Sanctuary I have 0 settlers there. And I cannot command any of them to do anything. I can't assign them to farm, etc. I tried completing the Sanctuary quest with the console command by entering each step of the quest and even though the quest is now marked s completed, I still have 0 settlers in the town. So anyone have any idea how to fix this? I haven't tried to recruit any more settlers there, or built a recruitment beacon yet, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this bug, or if it will potentially make the game not recognize any new settlers I do get to come there. jonnyhazell
Any luck finding a solution or tracking which mod caused the problem?
lazloarcadia
I've heard it said that Sanctuary is a heavily scripted area and any mod which alters the area in / around Sanctuary can really screw up the quests there. Scrap anything, the unofficial patch, and anythings which specifically alters sanctuary itself, or any of the settlement building mods (homemaker, etc) can mess it up. It is safer to not use any of those mods before finishing sanctuary.
JimmyRJump
Check your PipBoy settlements list to see if there's a "Commonwealth" entry. If there is, you have a mod that adds a settlement that has problems (usually it's the map marker of the new settlement that has errors so that the game does no longer know which is which and swaps names of no longer recognized settlements to commonwealth while at the same time supply lines are broken and settlers can no longer be appointed to jobs or to move to some settlements). fulgate
I am having this exact same issue. I built a settlement beacon and it has attracted a whopping total of one settler. The 24 beds I built finally showed up in the workshop menu after a long delay (I left Sanctuary and just went around completing other quests). So now it is showing 1 settler, 24 beds, and the settler automatically assigned himself to food so I have some food, water from pumps, defense from a turret. I cannot assign anyone to anything, even with a vault-tec overseer terminal thingy. What are the console commands for the completion of the different stages of this quest? I haven't tried that yet. I do have a heavily modded game, but my mods have otherwise been so amazingly unglitchy and uncrashy that I would really like to avoid having to disable them and lose cool s#*!. If anyone knows a way to do anything about this in FO4Edit, that would also be extremely welcome.
