jma282
Hello all, I noticed on slickdeals this morning that DAZ 3D is having a sale on three pieces of software they offer, Studio 4 Pro, Bryce 7 Pro, and Hexagon 2.5. I thought that maybe these tools would be useful for modders out there who want/need some free software for mods. Here is a link to the forum post for DAZ 3D:http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=182532&highlight= Here is a link to Studio 4 Pro:http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/daz-studio-4?item=13176 I hope this helps someone out there! Dark0ne
Thought this was a spambot, checked posting history, and it's not. Also doesn't look like it's an affiliate link, so I'll let this slide.
jma282
Yeah, I wasn't sure how to get this out to the community and wasn't sure where to post it at. My bad.
ChromeWarriorXIII
Yeah, I saw this a couple days ago. It's awesome for broke college students like me who can't afford any sort of software (hence why everything I do is done in GIMP and Paint.net). Though I haven't actually delved into these programs yet.

LHammonds
Imma sucker for free stuff. Since I already had a registered email account (that get's spammed by their marketing department a lot), I went ahead and nabbed the 3 goodies. The offer is still good till the end of April according to their product page even though the forum is outdated. Gotta wonder why they are trying to push their software onto a larger user base for such an extended amount of time. I sure would be perturbed if I gave them $900 and they turned around and made it free to everyone the next day....lol
Saratje
DAZ and Poser aren' t 3d programs for making models from scratch. Instead they use pre-existing 3d models of mostly female and male (either provided or additional purchased) models. The content such as props, clothes, morphs, skins etc are all user-made and are often costly. These can then be altered inside DAZ or Poser with a few thousand sliders and buttons. You then apply textures for skin, eyes etc, add hair, dress up the model with clothes and set up lights and poses before rendering the image out. It can also animate these models. The downside is if you want additional user- It's a good way to make CGI animations or images in a matter of hours: if you're good at it up to the quality of James Cameron's Avatar or Tin-Tin even. It's used a lot for those stereotype sci-fi women on graphics-card package, or for those CGI animations you often see on Discovery Channel etc. :) But don't expect to do with it what Maya or Max can do. It's for making CGI character images or animations, not starting from scratch. Gotta wonder why they are trying to push their software onto a larger user base for such an extended amount of time. I sure would be perturbed if I gave them $900 and they turned around and made it free to everyone the next day....lol Because they released a newer version of Daz. They rely heavily on the user-made stuff to sell, they get a share of that income. They endorse if it's up to quality and then sell it for them. The new version of Daz will offer features which will give rise to newer, improved user content. Making the old DAZ free would mean they still sell a lot of the soon obsolete user content (which probably drops in price).
