KillagameVII
Hey guys, Ever since I started making followers, I've been wanting to get into making unique armors and weapons for Skyrim but while I can find some stuff about making weapons, I can't seem to find anything about making armors or at least anything that's not an advance tutorial about creating armors. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or knowledge of where I can find such tutorials that they could share with me? Faelrin
Depends on what you are wanting to do (create mashup's or create things from scratch). You might not need a 3D modeling program and experience with using one, if you are comfortable with using nifskope and just want to make simple mashup's of existing armor and clothing. Anything more complicated will probably need a 3D modeling program. Personally I use the old blender (2.49b I think) from the Oblivion nexus for when I want to create or edit my armor mods. I use this tutorial (as well as the old version of nifskope provided there for preparing nifs for import into blender): http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3790/? for importing and exporting information, and converting from the Fallout 3 nif to the Skyrim nif. Though for the conversion process I just copy the BSLightingShaderProperty (and if the mesh needs it), and the NiAlphaProperty from the original meshes instead of remaking them. Though one thing that is important in regards to using blender and that tutorial, the stuff mentioned here needs to be done, or else there will be issues with the partitions upon exporting: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/893259-dismember-data-dont-export-from-blender/ For the weight slider (and since I use the vanilla bodies) I use this: https://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/files/file/1326-vanilla-body-lattice-male-female/ I am actually going to be working on something soon. I can take screenshots and do a tutorial of sorts covering the whole process if it would help. Edit: I am in the process of creating a thorough tutorial of the whole process I use right now, complete with images, while I work on my next little "project". This will be good for mashup's at least, and it might help with for scratch stuff too (at least for the exporting and importing stuff). Second edit: Almost done the tutorial, just have one more section I need to finish before I'll upload it. It's an image heavy rtf file (so microsoft wordpad). Lack of internet (except at my brother's house), so I can't say when, but hopefully next weekend or so. Edited April 23, 2017 by Faelrin
Tarshana
Faelrin makes amazing mashups :D I learned how to model bodies in Max3DS but Blender has a lot more tutorials and can be more user friendly and it's free. I learned the 'easy' way because I used armours from Tera online and used programs like BodySlide. If you are going to start from scratch, the place you start is paper. Draw out the design and understand what you want. Second part is watching basic videos on your modeling program so you know how to manipulate the points and create proper UV seams that you will use for your textures. Once you get that part squared away (for me it took a year), you can go into import skeletons to wrap the mesh and export to a file and then import to NifSkope to apply the bones. http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/5639-creating-skyrim-armor-in-blender-tutorial-series/ http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Creating_an_armour_for_Skyrim._Part_1 Might help you get started :)
