OBSE - why use it, why don't use it

No you dont HAVE too but its a great addition, and adds many more great additions to your gaming experience overall.

Seems I'm failing in clearing the point. It's not about 'using' OBSE. About this there are not a single doubt to me, as I already installed it eons ago and think all who could install it should do it.

Is more about using OBSE in our projects(s), and the pros and cons in doing so; and just in those situations where this choice would be weighted between the originality with a narrowed public, and the most conventional things.

Oh my, yet with conventional tools, creativity can do wonders sometimes :) maybe just a bit more wonderful if with more powerful tools :)

You can even IMPROVE your game performance with OBSE, if you use the OBSE mod Streamline.

Yes :) this is one of the things I pointed as favorable in using OBSE, performance, mainly on large mods, with several scripts running at once. In some replies a could perceive that I was being misinterpreted, or much more alike I was being unclear in the 'how to express my thoughts', since english is not my native language.

but this is even the point by which I posted the topic, discuss the advantages and cons at using tools on modding, OBSE in particular, and in a general and broad scope.

Advantage - Wider range of functions that accomplish things that couldn't normally be done.

Disadvantage - Requires that anyone else using your mod also has OBSE installed properly.

Not much else beyond that.

The decision to use it is primarily about if those functions are useful for what you're trying to do, or if you're trying to make your mod compatible with as many people as possible.

As for my use "as a modder" I have avoided it.

The only mod I am working on that might end up as a requirement is the Spartan 300 mod. But even then, I will ONLY add the requirement at the very end of the development cycle so I can provide a non-obse version for those that do not want or care for the additional content and requirement.

I even go so far as to use a Back-Rev Technique to ensure my plugins will work on Oblivion 1.0 unless I am using something that requires a patch such as the modified mirror effect in Lost Paladins of the Divines or one of the new scripting features. But again, if I decide to use one of those features, it is held off until the very end to see if it must be added as an absolute requirement or made available as an add-on for additional content.
