VonHoehenheim103
Hey guys, So I am trying to delete mod files in the Skyrim data folder and, just like the title says, I am unable to do so because I need to have permission from Admin. There is only one user on my PC and thus it is an admin.I have googled and youtubed this everywhere and I havent yet found a solution. I've tried changing the permissions, multiple times.sometimes I cant even do that. But when I do, no difference. This happened before and I just said screw it and did a factory reset. So right now Im rebuilding Skyrim on my rig after resetting it and i get low FPS on first load.I try and delete the mod I expect to be a causing it aaaaaaannnd....cant delete it. Sorry for the long post Any assistance that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated
niphilim222
Use the steam installer to delete it entirely, its a true and tried way to delete Skyrim all together.

Rabbit1251
After you uninstall everything from Skyrim (your choice which method you use) you might want to use Ccleaner to rid your Registry of orphan files that get left behind (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download). It's easy and safe. The Rabbit

I have recently received several FNIS reports of users with access and permission problems. It's not clear what is causing the increase of such reports. But you should consider this:Which Mod Manager do you use? Both NMM and MO seem to be fragile about that. But especially the NMM developer has admitted unexplainable issues. Windows Version: Windows 10 seems to have caused additional problems with new UAC issues Installation Directory: NEVER EVER use "C:\Program Files(x86)" for modding purposes. Admin rights don't help you, when UAC (User account control) messes with your privilegdes.Consequence: Move Steam, Skyrim, FNIS, ... to C:\Games or wherever. Don't let it be installed under C:\Program Files(x86).

So I use NMM on Windows 10 64-bitI have managed to delete the files in Safe Mode, but its going to happen again so I need to figure something out. Though, I am grateful for being able to delete them in Safe Mode instead of restoring my PC.Also, yes, my Data files are in Program Files (x86). I'll change their location and see if it helps.I will have to do that the next time Im forced to vanilla restore Skyrim. which will be today. I cant currently move the folder as I dont have permission. haha Edited April 7, 2017 by VonHoehenheim103
suicidalDogX
What you need to do do is get this application called Unlocker. Basically when you select files and folders you get a new unlocker option that will delete the files that are admin locked or unaccessable. I had the same issue as you also on W10 but I eventually gave up as the OS was restricting a lot of important things for me and downloaded windows 7 instead. I hope this helps :)-DogX
FMod
Unlocker is one option. Another one (a bit more capable) is to go to advanced permissions and change the files' Owner to yourself. And there's also booting from another HDD or DVD.
