Syco21
If we're going to base this discussion on what is currently possible, then there is no question at all. We can't yet reach deep space, We can barely make it to Mars, and we haven't even done that. If we did manage to make it out into deep space, there would be no turning back and there would be nothing there do to. We currently have deep sea exploration. And if one day we get bored and wish to return to the surface, we can. And we can do so in a reasonable amount of time.

Based on current capabilities, the question might as well be; Deep Sea Exploration or Miniaturization Exploration of Gary Busey’s Brain o_O
zegh8578
The Multiverse is real. Jet li and Jason Statham said it was :armscrossed: oh, i think its a absolutely real possibility. an endless "ocean" of universes my point is:we can _forget_ about it :Dthere is nooo way.... no... way... for us to go there. we can bend the universe, worm-hole it all we like... we're talking escaping THIS universe, and entering another.we can barely jump up to our moon "nrrrrgh!!" i guess im just being Captain Obvious with this, so... ive said my piece :D Edited February 8, 2012 by zegh8578
nosisab
The most fascinating feature of infinite is it is not "there", it is omnipresent, all around, Uno, the WHOLE. It is not something to be reached but something that can't be avoided. Still it has no meaning to us without it's counter-part, the "other" infinite which is omnipresent too but represent the absolute Multiplicity, the potential to All unities; Every and Each unity. which represents the ALL. Only by the interaction of both we can have the unity, these thingies finite for only at the point they become unity they receive value, dimension... a quantum. The unity is always at the center of the interval created by those two infinite. They could be called infinite and zero but them their real nature is confused by definitions we gave to these words which are not "them". For example we call infinite what repeats indefinitely, a useful definition but inaccurate; we confuse a point in a line with the zero, and so on. We could call them Yin and Yang but again we could be led to think mystically. Actually we could call them Ping and Pong if we grasp their real nature and meaning. We did not understand yet everything in the universe exist inside "intervals", a dualistic thinking where what matter is not the poles, not the extremes but what is in between. We still try to get to the extremes in a bipolar thinking, where a clear definition of "truth" and "falseness" is believed can be achieved outside the idealized, strongly limited and delimited models we can make of the real thing. So, if we should try the Deep Ocean or Deep Space... we don't understand yet the basics, both environments are lethal to us and we proved being good at destroying whatever we get the hands on, we are unable to see or foresee the consequences of our acts, we may be yet more lethal to them... then maybe at this time we should leave the Ocean Alone till we are able to understand ourselves first. At least the space should resist better our stupidity. Edited February 8, 2012 by nosisab

hoofhearted4
haven't read any of this topic, but just so everyone knows, NASA gets lets then .01% of every dollar....sure it adds up (obviously) but dont go thinking NASA gets a huge chunk out of everyone's check. i guarantee the government funds just as much to Deep Ocean explanation. except there isnt just one government organization that does that, like there is with Space. NASA does space, thats it, no one else in the US, but there is no government division that does Deep Ocean specifically (AFAIK). Navy does a lot with Deep Ocean exploration. im sure there are plenty of government funded ocean projects. id be willing to bet, that the money spent on ocean exploration (not counting the Navy) equals that of NASA, but since it isnt in one place, nor to a specific government organization, you dont hear about it as much. Sync182
Space. It must be explored and cultivated if mankind is to survive as a species. You can say "there's so much we haven't explored of our own oceans, yet!" as much as you want, but it all comes down to one thing: mankind is a voracious consumer of resources, and our little ball of rock only has so much. You can say "there's so much we haven't explored of our own oceans, yet!" as much as you want, but it all comes down to one thing: mankind is a voracious consumer of resources, and our little ball of rock only has so much.So you propose we waste resources trying to land on mars to get... what exactly? We are simply not ready to fully explore space. We can't even get a base on the moon.
