I have been able to get other Skyrim Original mods to work the way i am going to tell you. But tydr: It did not work for this mod ::: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16139/?

I use ::: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974/?
to unpack BSA, then directly drop their files in the Skyrim Special Edition/Data folder

I have been able to get it to work with other mods, but ya, as i said, didn't work this time for the above fishing mod

Another option i am going to try is opening the file in creation kit, changing a name to something different, then change name back, saving it, which will convert it to 64bit version of skyrim, which i have heard from other people worked for them on certain mods, save it, pack it back up, then put it in the Skyrim Special Edition/Data folder
This work around i got here::: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Porting_Skyrim_mods_to_Skyrim_Special_Edition

Hope this helps

EDIT:::After using the method with the creation kit, it worked, im excited about that.

First time i have used that method, was easier than i thought it would be.

Usually c > program files (x86) > steam > steam apps > common > skyrimspecialeditiion > data

Then, inside of data, mods may place (or you may have to place, if installing manually) a folder for "meshes" and a folder for "textures," or "scripts," etc., depending on what assets your mod needs or has.

If you're using only mods with .bsa files, you may have multiple mods and still not have had these loose folders created.

Thank you so much. All right once I figure out how to port mods to SSE I will be fishing in Skyrim. Those stupid slaughterfish won't know what hit them.

New problem I don't have a common folder in steamapps. Also I am having a lot of trouble with porting it. I'll just leave it to someone more competent that I.

there's several 'steam' folders, make sure you're looking in the 86. If you have the nexus mod manager, click next to (drop down button) the file icon with a red arrow, click 'open game file'.

Ive been looking for a fishing mod, but no luck so far. Hopes this helps in your endeavor.
