Paid DLC Content in 2012, 2013 for Skyrim ...or... wait for Elder Scrolls VI... shipping in 2017? (or whenever)

I'll take the former.

And 1 week for a dev to prototype a cool idea translates to weeks, if not months of dev and QA time to bake it into the rest of the game and test it.

BS and more BS.

Very few PC's do much better than consoles. I have a QuadCore i7 920 and Radeon 4890 which was pretty awesome a couple of years ago. But I can't run Skyrim with things all on high, much less ultra, on my 2560x1600 monitor, no way. I'd need an non-computer monitor, like an HDTV that consoles use, in order to do that.

So you're either living in a fantasy world or happen to be one of the top 1%. Fortunately, you're not the market.

Wow the ignorance is very high here. The reason why so many games nowadays don't run well on PCs is becuase of shitty developers - they design and optimize code for consoles, then PORT the codebase to PC. Conole hardware is different from PCs, they rely on the CPU to do most of the work. Either u make the code to suit the console system, or the PC system - usually the deadlines to not allow developers to optimize for both platforms.

So, what they did was to optimize for consoles. Why? It is because PC systems have vastly superior capabilities - consoles use five year old hardware and little RAM and this requires heavy optimization to get decent framerates , while PCs can run unoptimized code and get the same performance with consoles.

Also there is no denying that developers get more income from consoles than PCs.

I could not have said it any better myself.

This thread turned into the WRONG discussion. PEOPLE, GET BACK ON TOPIC. This thread is about POSSIBLE DLC not deciding if the PC beats the consoles in anything.

Yeah I should agree with that as well. I apologize for really straying off subject here. So, to try and get back on track, what do all of you think about the distant lod and heightmaps for the other provinces? Remember how it was discovered that White Gold Tower is fully rendered, in low res if I might add? And also how Red Mountain is out there as well? I find it pretty interesting that these two places that are completely rendered are also the most important parts of some of the main side quests. Mainly the rebellion. You have the white-gold concordat that was signed between the Thalmor and Empire and then the explosion of Red Mountain. I just find it very ironic that these places are rendered out there and they also tie into the rebellion.

Anyone here think that could be potential DLC, or just extra worldspace for modders to take advantage of?

Neither, Elsarian. It's just LOD for when the player scales a mountain and looks into the distance. If nobody could see it, they'd flip out, likely. The extra land is just candy, for when modders do get to it, but it wasn't intended specifically for them.
