Steam Workshop.

I have four computers at home and an Ipad. Only one of them has Skyrim but all of them gets used by various family members and friends. I'd rather not have one of the more unruly members deciding to cause some mischief with any of my accounts because they saw that I'm still logged in. If I go to a public library or use a friend's/coworker's computer, I really do not want to log on to anything if I don't have to. Not needing to be logged on to use a feature does have its advantages.

Indeed, for once I would love to keep steam offline and then, "maybe" log on to download that upper dupper super interesting mod that did not made it's way to Nexus (at this point I cannot imagine such scenery but,,,)

Them, the annoyance would be exactly having to log on just to so such search.

I take it you don't wear the pants/aren't respected in your household? I have the same thing and they all know not to f**k with my stuff, unless they want nothing but a blank screen and a mouse/keyboard to play with. :armscrossed:

" What does Steam Workshop mean for the Nexus?"

It means the Nexus servers are going to be clogged and crash with the influx of people who want to know why all 50 of the mods that they subscribed too on steam don't work or crash their game.

Nexus is still and will always superior to Steam Workshop

@Cracktower: Better to be safe than sorry. To me, letting people on my machines without making sure my personal info isn't one click away makes about as much sense to me as unprotected sex in a bordello. Hell, the analogy isn't even that far off. God knows how many porn sites three guys can go through on the same network. I'm sure you'll never encounter that problem though. :whistling:

I tend to lock my computer whenever I'm away from it.. Not due to other family members, they all have their own and are computer savvy.

But due to the times I come back and there's a whole string of characters in the password input box from the cats walking on my keyboard :/

I haven't tried any mods with the steam workshop, I actually haven't done much modding yet as I'm waiting for some mods to mature or be created first.

I have read some of the drawbacks to it currently, and from some limited browsing found some features lacking. So for the time being I'm mostly focusing on using the Nexus.

Thanks for taking my humor, usually I get a hate reply. All kidding aside though why don't you just make a separate account just for you? Using the same account for everyone is not a smart idea, my steam account wouldn't be my first concern if that was the case.

I would invest in a couple of cans of lysol and rubber gloves while you are at it.

Purell and alcohol wipes find frequent use in this house. Give me a few years and I may become one of those hypocondriacs who wear kleanex boxes as shoes. :P

Seperate accounts provide a layer of protection for my PC with Skyrim installed but for the rest it is just more hassle than it is worth. One in the living room and the ipad see too much traffic to make it practical to switch constantly. Another one in the kitchen is a crappy Dell with windows vista that has enough problems turning on, much less switching log ins. The last one is an old XP machine that is used mostly as a bootleg NAS and occassional old MMO skill grinder through macros nowadays so it is largely left on all day.

That of course only covers the house. I'd rather not log on period to most things while using public wi-fi hotspots, machines at my job or at the library.

Not having the search box while lurking isn't the end of the world. It just means it makes it less convenient than the Nexus so I'll likely not bother using it as often as I normally would have.
