rgx02
Ive attached the mods that suit my style so you can take as example. But really, its better if you see the mods for yourself, that way you'll have a custom game. kevkiev
For textures/game appearance, I'd recommend first laying down NMC's textures as a base and then putting Tapioks Ojo Bueno or Poco Bueno on top of 'em (and take note of Tapioks recommended INI tweaks). Then, add Mental Gear's clutter retextures, some kind of weapons retexture (I use Weapons Retexture Project for bullet-type shooters and EVE for energy weapons - though EVE is more, much more, than just a weapons retext), the Hi-Res Chems and Health retexture and, finally, a smattering of Hectrol's various retext mods (definitely his EDE retexts - amazing stuff). Oh, and Neck Seam Concealer Chains too. I guess I'm too lazy to add links, but I think those descriptions should give you enough to perform effective searches. To really beautify your game, add URWLified Nevada Skies. Your eyeballs will thank you. To minimize performance hits from all this prettiness, install the 4gb memory enabler and New Vegas Stutter Remover.
Jeoshua
What are the best mods? I don't know, what are the best religions? The answer, of course, is very subjective. Try looking at the Top 25 list of mods on the nexus site. They will at least tell you the most popular mods, and usually they're up there on the list for a reason. Some of them can also be a bit overhyped, or out of date. I like Clean-Deluxe FNV, but I'm very partial ;)

Thanks and sorry for the OT Yup, exactly. I seem to recall Tapioks posting that's what he does too. Fwiw, I DL'd the large NMC texties, then overlaid it with the OJO packs that I wanted (mainly the HQ, but chose a few UHQ ones, like the autobody) - imo, the Ojo environmental pack is a must (to get the sandy ground rather than the hard cracked, FO3-like, ground in NMC; and the vegetation is superb too). I then put the other textie mods on top of all that, It's a total mix & match thing. For one example (mind you It's been ages since I DL'd NMC and OJO so I'm not sure if the file are still the same). I recall picking through the Ojo files and deleting the human skeleton dds's b/c I liked the NMC retext better. For another example, I recall taking out the first aid kit texties in the Hi-Res chems mod before applying it 'cuz I wanted to keep the Ojo one. Though you could just click "no" when you're prompted to overwrite a particular texture with a mod that you're installing later. I note that Mental Gear's clutter retexts comes in "Ojo friendly" versions to make things a bit more convenient. I also DL'd the Poco hi-res goodsprings water tank, which is incredibly awesome but one thing is that, if you run AWOP, you end up getting goodsprings water tanks in all sorts of underground caves which is a bit weird. And, with a few INI tweaks to the INI in mydocuments/mygames/falloutNV, (jacking up the default "iPreloadSizeLimit=26214400" to something bigger seems critical - I can never remember the exact number Tapioks suggests so I simply add another zero at the end to make it 262144000) 4GB Enabler and NVSR, I don't notice ANY hit on performance. Sorry for the long-winded reply, but I'm passionate about texture mods! IMO, almost nothing helps immersion more than awesome textures.
Deter32
Well, I only downloaded a handful of stuff and than decided to custom build the game how I wanted it. Didn't add in any extra quests. I really like the Goodsprings house, it gave one a baseI thought the lightsabers were really cool, so I added that to my modSome of the outfits were done really well, took the gunslinger outfit and clint eastwoods outfit. Than I loaded up the overpopulated casinos, I only used this to completely wipe out all the casinos, which was fun! Created 5 companions, actually fixed the Sunny Smiles companion, so really 4. Going through the game with sometimes 5 to 7 companions was too much, so I killed off many of the companions that came with the game. The best was Boone, made him shoot Manny, than I told him, so he was pissed. At the time I think I had 5 companions so the Dino was full of people. Anyway, I shot Boone, and he fell out of the Dino, down to the ground, that was a blast.... I didn't really mess around with the weapons mods. The ones that come with the game are ok, just have to sort through them. There was a Black Textured 44 Magnun, which was really cool. So what I did with that gun, was added in my own sound effects, creating the gun shots from Clint Eastwoods dirty harry movies. Than everytime u loaded up the gun or unloaded the gun, the game played sounds from the Good the Bad and the Ugly. I didn't like the VATS sounds in the game, so I redid that also...Composed a soundtrack that I felt worked pretty well.....Than redid some of the radio stations. With the guns, I didn't like many of the sound effects that came with the game. Created like 8 or 9 guns with custom gun shots. I really went to town on this, I felt like this was key. For example, I took Boone's Sniper Rifle which is a really good weapon than re-sounded it with the gunshots from the sniper in Saving Private Ryan. It is not easy to mix the soundtrack or cut them, but if you are skilled, you can get a good mix. Liked some of the gun-shots in the old westerns so put those sounds in the game also. Than created 4 custom companions with 100+ different speech commands, one of them was Clint Eastwood, cut and mixed tons of voice segments to basically have him talk to you.... Just for fun, added a few random NPC's, like Gene Hunt, he had a few lines of Dialog and was fractioned with the Powered Gangers...... That is what I did...It made the game easy with 4 companions + Sunny and high end weapons.....I wiped out the NCR from the game, and the Legion.....Every location they had......Plus with the custom companions, I let them smuggle things in to the Casino & Legion making them easy to wipe out.....But it was better......For example I had a posse with me when I wiped out Mr. House and his robots.....I actually wiped out Vegas...... Now that I completed the game was going to uploaded it to this site, it is a very big file. Because this was a very detailed project, I was going to post under my design name, and than I read u would get banned if you had two accounts. So I just said the hell with it...... Now I have to figure out, how to load all my stuff in to Fallout 3, So my advise is to build it yourself and use some of the stuff on the site..... This is so you can't say I didn't give you guys anything, this mp3 is Clints 45, from the Good the Bad and the Ugly, you just have to re-sound the 44 magnum... Scyris
I'm a fan of project nevada, doesn't do much in the way of quests, but it changes a lot of the core game mechanics, introduces cybernetic implants u can install and take out for a fee, new weapons and armor, and its also compatable with some of the mods like Weapon mods expanded (WMX) by Antistar and other things. I like fellout NV too removes the orange haze on everything, but on the downside it makes the nights so dark you can't see much. I also like the reinforced chinese stealth armor mod, adds a few quests, that in the end nets you a really nice stealth armor with a dt of 18 or so, and it also has some addones like shoulder/waist armor and helmets of varing types. Makes it a great altenative to power armor. Project Nevada also comes with a ingame mod config menu that you can change most of the settings to your liking.
