My Epic Friday FAIL

I am so in the dog house with my wife...

My mom took her out for her Birthday lunch & so I did a bunch of yard work while she was gone. Then I got the bright idea that while she was gone, I would weed & pretty much clear the 20x10 section under the kitchen window. To me, all I saw was a single rose bush (which I left alone) & a bunch of other plants that I took to be weeds, as I never saw my wife beautify the area. So I spend a few hours clearing the area under the window while she was gone & then raked it flat. By this time, i'm all proud of myself.

Then my wife comes home & she goes ballistic. Apparently some of the "weeds" I had pulled, were very old Hydrangias, which also happened to be her most favorite flower in the world. To then add insult to injury, I am told they were going to be blooming within a few days as they had already sprouted buds. All of this I did not notice.

Then i'm told we can't afford to plant any new plants or flowers for awhile & so now we have this big bare spot in the front of the house directly under the kitchen window. What started out as great intentions, ended up with me getting in some serious poo with my wife & possible inlaws as they are the owners of the house...

Looks like top ramen for dinner for the next week.

Wow that sucks...But maybe your wife will calm down after a day or two. Maybe your nice intentions will soften her up a little bit. And just tell her how much fun she'll have getting to add some "new" to your homes curb appeal(but I'de wait a day or two before I said that, if I were you). And if that doesn't work....breakfast in bed and lots of sucking up couldn't hurt. In the meantime though...hope your couch is comfortable. Remember: We're all pullin' for ya!

If you want to impress the wife always go for chocolates! Chocs chocs chocs!

And strawberries!

Or chocolate dipped strawberries! Even better! Don't go over the top though... it doesn't work out that well...

Well, I had to run an errand & so was gone for a couple hours. When I came back to pick up something I had forgotten, my wife was civil to me. Whoa! As any married man knows, if suddenly their special other do a 180 on them like that, it can only mean the wife has something nasty up their sleeve as payback. So when I came back, my wife asked if I would mind going to Lowes with her. Knowing they have flowers there, I decide to get into her good graces & agreed to go with her. Come to find out, my wife actually had cooled down quite a bit while I had been gone & had gone online & spent a good deal of time reading up on how to "revive" a cut plant. Come to find out that there is this rooting compound that you use that will make the cut stem of the Hydrangias regrow their roots. So my wife decided to get all she needed from Lowes garden department & is in the process of saving her favorite flowers.

Thank god that the week before I had gotten a gift certificate for Lowes from where I work because I was a safe worker....

If as a woman, I can interject...

I doubt that this is over. Be prepaired for either helping save plants and/or pampering after said plants are revived. (rubbing backs-in a non-get you mind out of the gutter way, etc."

And I would be willing to bet her anger isn't so much what you did, but that you didn't pay enough attention to realize they were her flowers, favorite, that she looked at them in the past and remarked how lovely they were, blah blah. That is what I usually am mad about--that the husband didn't "care" enough to pay attention to those little details.

Good luck man!
