Talwyn224
I like the mining idea a lot although the returns should be very small as these mines would have been thoroughly picked over by 2281. The gold bullets is a nice idea as well. Definitely increase the weapon degradation but because gold is such a dense element, it should do just that bit extra damage than say ordinary lead. Gold hollow point ammo would be very nasty on soft targets  Using gold to gilt metal armour is a great idea and I like the idea that if it's possible to implement the shinning armour perk if you use a bar to gilt say power armour. mattiga14
i'll make an attempt to make gold bullets with extra power, might try plasma too.
greenknightfury
I can see the Legion embracing it for sure though the NCR would most likely try to just make it currency, and the Brotherhood would fall over themselves using it to enhance their energy weapons. Hmm.. In that case maybe your Luck is a strong modifier in how much you can find. As the main character in a story you can go to a tapped-out mine and still be the one to find that final lucky strike. I
Gribbleshnibit8
Well, gold bullets are easy to make. No new textures/models. Making a gold plated armor/weapon is beyond my capacity, hence why I didn't bother trying. I think it would be kind of cool. Anyone who has played Army of Two knows, but gold plated armor/guns could even be scripted to "agro" enemies to the player. So if you have companions or allies nearby, pulling out a gold plated minigun would make every enemy agro to you and give your allies a chance to pick them all off. Assuming you survive of course. Same could easily be done for armor.
adman85
Hmm, for recycling purposes, what if, everytime you hit someone/thing with gold bullets or plasma, there is a chance that the player will find "gold nuggets" on the enemy hit. And maybe 10 gold nuggets turns into one gold bar?

Gribbleshnibit8
Well the system I'm working on is based somewhat on the real weights of gold and lead (proportionally). I've got it set up right now to use a version of that coin shot script, that gives you a chance to find gold pieces on the body. Gold pieces are just like lead, in that they're the component that makes the bullets. Gold nuggets would be kind of weird, especially if 10 made up a gold bar. Cause that would mean that you were firing three and a half pound bullets! o_O The recovery rate is ~30% chance, but you get a 60% chance to recover cases from gold ammo, combined with perks means you'll recover almost every case (gold ammo is lucky). I haven't made it very far, cause working with all those calculations annoys me. But it is coming together.
CyberNinja1234
For the bullets idea I suggest that 1 gold bar = 1000 gold pieces (essentially the lead part of the creation)Why so much? because last I checked on scrap made a lot of led and it is unlikely you will be walking out with all of it. xxcomrad3xx
I really like the currency idea. Personally i felt picking up caps and "pre war" money got tiresome, id like to see more loot or treasure that can be used. Ncr dollars, legion denarius, pre war and caps are all good currencys but different types of caps would be nice. simply taking the current bottle cap texture and modifying it to be reflective gold would be simple enough, but making it an acceptable form of cash would be nice. i personally like games where it costs more then one type of money to buy something. For example Dark age of camelot. You have platinum, gold, silver, copper. Then weapons and such cost 16 gold and 20 silver. Much like our current day prices. ex. $5.50 cents. but seeing as how this is post apocolyptic world it doesnt need to be that precise to buy things, granted i like it being precise because then i feel like my money means something instead of a huge single number. but anyhow, i bet you could just up the value of 1 bottle cap (gold) to like 50-100 caps a peice or something of that nature...
