Strangeness south of Riften

Wandering around north of the College, close to Septimus's Outpost, I came across a large statue of Talos on a platform. Next to the platform was an open cage with a dead skeever, other dead skeevers around, some Scrolls of Calm scattered on the ground, and some alchemy supplies. Looks like another College student failed his thesis research, but we'll never know for sure.

Seems like there are dead students scattered in odd locations all around the area of the College. No wonder the inhabitants of Winterhold are not fond of the mages.

I really do love touches like this.

I've tried to ask all of the College mages about that poor guy first time I've found him. No result. I mean, noone had the related conv. topic.

So, like I said before, it's just a lovely landscape

I just recently found that lighthouse near Dawnstar. At least one gets a story with it, but as a low level character it wasn't the easiest place to work through.

One I forgot. Wandering the area of the hot springs near Fort Amol looking for Jazbay grapes and I see two people walking. I duck down thinking "bandits" and watch as they walk away. I follow them a bit from a distance and see a camp fire (it was about midnight game time). The two walk into the camp and sort of wander a bit, then they both undress and go sit in the hot springs. I wander over and its two hunters - a male and a female. Just thought that was kind of neat they were enjoying a hot tub after a hard day hunting.

1st. Forgot to mention that place is rather... hot. Well, cold and poisonous, actually. SORRY!

2nd. Delightful! My favourite one is a small tent a short way east of Dawnstar with red flowers, wine and romantic candles. Never bothered to wait for the owners, but it looks... charming. Imagination draws a picture of a loving pair running away from their boring spouses to that cute little nest to make... relations ;)

So, I've been wandering quite a bit, just discovering things, but not doing a whole bunch in quests. Has anyone ever run across Cicero with a broken down wagon begging for help to get it repaired so he can take his poor mother to her new crypt? I would think this can only happen if you have not done the DB quest line.

Finally found Arthur's Sword.

It turns out there is mention of a missing apprentice who preferred to work with skeevers and was practicing Calm spells: Ilas-Tei. It's the same conversation with Phinis Gestor that names the other missing apprentices that we find dead.

Not exactly. I've met that guy (and helped him) in the very beginning of my first pass. No idea how it may influence the DB line - didn't join them that time.

Right. I meant there was no topic like "do you know anything about that dead guy in your College's robes lying down there?"

Finally found Arthur's Sword.

This is a leveled sword, in the first playtrough (level 50) i have found a daedric sword in the secon playtrough (level 10) i have found a steel sword :)

Well, that answers a question I had. I figured the sword would be levelled to the player but thought I'd check on my next play through to be sure. The sword I found was ebony with a stamina draining enchantment. Didn't need it, liked seeing it sticking up out of the water, so I left it.

@landy8-I cannot find the small tent by Dawnstar you mentioned a few posts ago. Figured I'd find it and hang around for a while and see if anyone shows up, but I've somehow missed finding it.

That house you speak of has a dragon near by. Things like that are a clue to whats in the area. I thought the addition of seemingly insignificant things like that by Bethesda was brilliant. Its the small details they do that really set their games apart from the pack.
