Fkemman11
With the level of science being produced by the Institute and the BOS for that matter, wouldn't anyone think to produce more of the bombs that destroyed Boston and other parts of the world. They have mini-nukes, but not the big "boomers". If you have an entire city that is inhabited mostly by undesirables like SM and Raiders I would think someone would get the idea to just bomb the area again and live with the fallout. I see the BOS suffer losses in men and machinery all the time. Wouldn't it be smarter to just drop death from the sky? Fly at a higher altitude and "nuke it for morbid" when they draw ground fire? Or nuclear tipped warheads for the MM's artillery? They don't like SM or raiders either! Besides think of the experience points you could rack up from one or two of these!
Nihilisaurus
"nuke it for morbid"The quote is "nuke it from orbit". The Marines wanted to run away and deal with the Aliens from the relative safety of space.
Fonger
IIRC we restocked Liberty Prime with things significantly larger than mini-nukes (that had tiny effects) so . . . there are still stockpiles of interesting nukes to be found locally not to mention some nice ones in New Vegas . . . MightyZ0G
and another Big One at Megaton in the Capitol Wasteland. I doubt anyone is making new nuclear bombs but there are plenty about.

dark47
No, no, no. We want to salvage what's left, not destroy it. I understand what you all mean, but we humans need some place to call home. Everyone can't run around in power armor, carrying tons of RadX and RadAway. We want to rebuild, not finish the job the idiots started 200-odd years ago. Shoot! The use of mini-nukes even disturbs me.
Fkemman11
@ Lt Albrecht The line in the movie reads "nuke it from orbit" But if you go back and listen to Ripley it sounds like she is saying more "Nuke it for morbid". @ Dark 47 When an area is completely overrun with SMs or raiders then the question is whether the casualties are worth going in and securing the area. If you have an area that is of little value then I think it becomes a real option. Remember that there are only so many people you can afford to lose- for the BOS or MM. The institute just uses Synths to operate on the surface. So not much on the surface is of any value to them it would seem. Tell me the idea of nuking an entire area doesn't sound kinda cool. It is a game after all. Even a conventional bombing campaign using various high explosives would be very effective -although this is somewhat addressed by the artillery of the MM. The Boomers in NV had the right idea. Also there was the Sat Com Array that you could use to bomb the Talon Co Headquarters in Washington. Not to mention you could bomb the Citadel leaving nothing but rubble and a safe with a custom .44 Magnum. Anyone remember those? Lets face it- some of us like blowing s*** up!! This includes Beth as they gave us the means to do so.

The use of mini-nukes even disturbs me.I'm with you on that and I rarely use explosives of any kind in my game. they tend to start chain reactions and then there are cars exploding everywhere and then I'm reloading my last save ha ha :D but the BoS do use mini nukes you pick up a fat man from a dead BoS soldier outside GNR in FO3 given that they are not above using mini nukes on their own doorstep, the OP does have a point.the BoS could cruise over North America carpet bombing problem areas in relative safety. dark47
Re: BOS In reading the terminals in the Cambridge Police Dept., Danse suggests bombing certain area to save resources. Yeah, I know. Another reason I dislike the BOS. I role-play this game and really get into that part, so I find myself asking lots of these type questions. I was in demolition in the Army in the '60s and I know the devastation even conventional explosives can cause, so I think twice (sometimes 3 times) before I so much as toss a grenade in the game. (Opening that door to the Cambridge Police station and tossing in a Molotov or two doesn't seem to phase me though. he, he)
