SimplyOhSo
Every once in a while i'll edit terrain and in game what's left behind is is a big ugly textured hill that you can walk right through, anybody know how to fix this? http://i.imgur.com/hZbHKTD.jpg
madmongo
Did you change the texture or did you just change the height? This is one of the bugs that shows up if you have too many mods, typically somewhere over 130 or so, but some folks don't run into it until they get closer to 150 or 160 mods. Sometimes if you sit still for a bit the correct texture will eventually snap into place. If you don't have the too many mod issue, another possibility is that you edited the landscape with one of the textures that doesn't work properly. I know there are a couple of textures that don't work properly in the landscape editor, but the only one I can remember for certain off the top of my head is the black texture that I tried to use for a scorched earth area. I ended up having to create my own texture to make it work.
SimplyOhSo
I just tried changing the texture and it didn't change anything, I think it has to do with the height because the mashed potato hill (ugly textured hill) always shows up in the place where the hill used to be after I flatten it. SimplyOhSo
It does have to do with the height maps, I just tried to flatten the area around it and the same mashed potato hill popped up
Deleted1205226User
You are seeing the LOD hill
Jokerine
As Pix said, If you lower the terrain too much, eventually you'll push it past the LOD, which cannot be seen in the GECK nor can be edited with the landscape tools - it needs to be remade from scratch. So, you'll have to either be careful and not move it too much, or be willing to redo the LOD on the cells you're editing.
Deleted1205226User
I should be less concise in my answer to be useful. Thanks, Jokerine, for the additional info.
