Policy about mentioning other mods in the description of my mod?

Suppose I upload a mod that's designed to be compatible with other mods, or meant to be used in conjunction with other mods. Is it permissible to mention this in my mod's description, and possibly link to those mods? For example, a short sentence saying "This mod is intended to be used together with Jim's FooBar Mod, and is compatible with Steve's Crazy Funtime Mod," with links to each.

Am I required to seek out the mod authors' permission before doing so? (Of course, that would be ideal, but I'm thinking of cases where the author can't be reached.) Or is it not allowed at all?

Thanks!

Qwerty is correct. As long as you are linking to a legitimate download site, you do not require permission. In fact, providing the links is very helpful, and it's something I always appreciate.

Ah dang, forgot the 'legitimate site' part.

It isn't as much a matter of the site but the content rather. A simple rule of thumb is, if you find on the site anything the rules of the Nexus would not allow to be hosted or shown here, then it's a good idea for you to also not link to there.
