You know what i like?

I like it that i went to an extended family gathering last night and... hardly bit anyone at all.

I liked it that after spending the first half hour or so trying to restrain me, that number one son spent the next four hours avoiding my vicinity.

I like it that i still have this power over this brilliant, mature young man.

I like it that young'uns just dont yet know what a delight it is to embarrass the hell out of your child, and without even really having to try.

I like to quote myself from time to time. But... in this case it is to offer a rebuttal to all said in the above. Apparently, the whole teenager being grossed out by the parent thingy is biological. Frontal frontal lobes development, and stuff. The same thing that will have a kiddy in stitches when the parent, usually a dad, does it, will have that kiddy running from the house screaming once they hit puberty a week later. Brain thingy development.

I like it that i can accept that i no longer have any control over the large young man about to leave home for the first time ...and perhaps the last. I really fekking *sniff* like that.

I like that feeling when a hug is more than a hug. :whistling:

I like those soft cookies that are topped with icing and sprinkles.

I like it when my dog comes to greet me when I come home.

I like nice people.

I like it that Fell Hound has to greet me every morning, noon and night, and every time he comes back into the house. That, after all this time, he still likes to grunt like a pig when i scratch his neck, and back, at each of these greetings. I like to think that both of us have quite a few years of this mutual observance left to us.

I like that, today, as a Corporal, I had to sit down my platoon sergeant (a Staff Sergeant) and give him a talking-to about paying attention to his junior NCO soldiers.

Of course, I'm eleven years older than he, and have four more years' experience in the Army, which is what allowed me the moral high-ground (and the experience in how to "chew out" a superior without actually being insubordinate).

I like it when I get to do stuff like that, and they say 'Thank you' at the end of it.
