Dimensionist
Think logically. You cannot play Fo3 nor FONV because your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements.Do you really think you'd be able to play Skyrim? (which is a much newer game) ... But it does meet the minimal requirements. Heck, it meets the recommended requirements easily! Installed Skyrim - it's running without the slightest hint of a problem. So, only Fallout 3 seems to be giving me a problem right now. If I could get a definitive statement about whether Fallout New Vegas would work or not (simply linking to another thread/site where someone with similar problems asked for help would do), I'd appreciate it. Fonger
... But it does meet the minimal requirements. Dimensionist
That's the one thing I was asking - is the Intel integrated video card completely unsupported for this kind of game? Because Skyrim works fine. If it doesn't work for Fallout 3, you said you remembered a desktop that plays FONV with an integrated Intel video card. If that's true, at least New Vegas should be possible for me to play.
Fonger
I have no clue why Vegas plays on that Integraded Intel HD video chip game was installed by Steam - full download (not from disk starter) Systemrequirements lab says it won't play, but every single detail in the specs of the video chip -- the lab test says exceeds the requirement - but it fails the lab's test does this notorious test site say your video chip will play the game ?? Dimensionist
It says it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I'd give it more weight if it didn't also say that it doesn't meet the requirements for Skyrim, when in fact I can play that game at High settings perfectly. Fonger
yes but does it say that any single part of your video chip is below minimum requirements it says that the integrated Intel HD doesn't work, but it also says that every single part of the video exceeds minimum
Dimensionist
yes but does it say that any single part of your video chip is below minimum requirements it says that the integrated Intel HD doesn't work, but it also says that every single part of the video exceeds minimum. In both cases, it says that while the video card itself doesn't meet the requirements, every single sub-part of the video card is significantly above the recommended specs. Basically, it fails to meet the minimal requirements only on the basis of the type of video card. ... Hey, someone was mentioning a way to trick the game to believe that the video card was a supported one, as long as all the video requirements were met. Something about downloading a d3d9.dll file and placing it in the Fallout 3 folder. I'd rather not just download .dll files from the net (there are several associated problems with that method), but there must be something similar to make it work, right? Fonger
no idea about using the alternate DLL -- seriously, didn't do anything to get Vegas to work, just told steam to install try updating your video drivers and experimentally try the DLL (just make certain you have a way to go back in case it doesn't work)
Dimensionist
Okay, so New Vegas installed fine, and runs perfectly.

If you're missing the d3d9.dll file, you should try downloading the newest version of Direct X. (d3d9.dll is a direct X file)
