hey i've not DL'ed your mods slof but comments, screenshots and anything else points you as a great modder. If you weren't a great modder, why are these too many people loves your mods? one child comes over and screws up all the hours you've given to your mods. I don't have to add many, but (do not report me or give me a strike, because all of you know why i'm writing these)i want to mention something; These children becomes a user, selects the "adult-only" option, looks for sexy woman to jerk off, and find your mod's subject is mans, and they name you as "gay" or "horny". I haven't known since now you are a woman, but if you are making good mods and giving something to the community, you can be a alien, i don't care. (which i'm suspicious for, because i believe good mods as these can only made by aliens)

you can say "hey, this man haven't ever tried Slof's mods.How can he talk?" it's not a problem to playing,it's a problem to giving support to a great modder. If you don't want to DL her mods,just search her, look at what have she done, and you'll understand what i'm talking about if you haven't understand since now.

and (off-topic)LHammonds, can you make a rule like "You can't report unless you have said why. If you report, you must say why did you report this". I don't protect these stupids i've mentioned above, i'm talking about the danger which LHammonds said.

Customising stuff is as essential to my well-being as breathing! I am a big believer in individualism - I like to be different and do lots of things.

 

I get bored of computer games incredibly quickly, so I only buy games that come with modding utilities or construction sets or whatever you call them.

 

I agree on the individualism-I can't stand MMOs because they try to force you to team up and I hate teaming up with random people.

 

I get pleasure not just from creating, but also by sharing what I do. It's just the way I am. Being attacked for being generous is not acceptable in any community or culture. I have not stopped modding or sharing - I've just taken steps to take away the voices of those fools who hated me for being nice.

 

Different reason than me on that point. I released my mods to the public so that I could get feedback and improve it.

 

Someone signed up with the sole intent of insulting me.

 

For the most part, everyone has to put up with that. If you think it's bad on the forums, you obviously haven't played any MMOs. There's one MMO where someone made an account solely to make rude spoofs on my character's name: My character was named Reptilian Warlord, the other person made characters named Reptardian Warlord and Reptilian Emolord and spammed my character for 3 days in a row. If you (only) have one person signing up to insult you, it isn't that bad.

 

<sigh> free MMOs FTL.

 

Once, on the BGS forums, 5 people called me a retard in PM for hating M-rated content.

In general, idiots/trolls/flamebaiters are everywhere-you just have to put up with it. Just be thankful they didn't try to take credit for your work.

 

Perhaps an easier coding option for Dark0ne would be the ability for mod authors to disable commenting altogether. It's either on or off. I know it can be done to prevent ratings, but not sure if that prevents comments as well. It takes away the voices of the trolls, but download counts speak all the praise needed. Mod of the month, top 100, hall of fame, etc, don't matter a jot to me. I share because I want to, not for glory. I love perusing screenshots and youtube and finding my stuff being used and enjoyed.

 

I ignore the rating system completely. The largest problem is that if 20 people each make 5 accounts solely to ruin a mod's rating, that's 100 bad ratings which is to your mod's reputation the same thing as getting a 5000 gold bounty on Morrowind for your character.

 

 

I am an artist - both professional and for my own fun. I 'play' Photoshop for a living. Art is my life. And for most artists, sharing is part of it. True, I don't get paid for modding - I'd probably not want to do it if I did!

 

Writing scripts in the Construction Set is good for my programming skills. But I'm not an artist.

I actually do not like the types of mods that AlienSlof makes (I only use mods that are PG-13 and below). IMO, there is some content that just needs to be censored and not allowed.

 

I have a tendency to look down on people who use mods with inappropriate content. Got flamed on the BGS forums for saying that some people had their "minds in the toilet and should receive toilet brush helmets."

 

However, not liking someone's mods is definitely NOT an excuse to flame someone.

I'm definitely NOT a fan of AlienSlof, but I'm posting here because what happened to AlienSlof is similar to what happened to me on the BGS forums:

 

1) Different philosophy from what's "accepted".

2) Got flamed on forums for being different.

3) Made mods unavailable to the public at least temporarily.

4) Considered quitting the Oblivion mod community at least once

I'm not sure if this is a language barrier thing but I don't understand why I would make a rule to that effect...oh...you are talking about "rating"...not "reporting"

 

We do say that you have to justify your vote which is why comments are required. If you do not justify a vote, it is subject for removal.

 

AlienSlof, I ran across something in a book today that I thought was very clever and figured this would be an appropriate place to pass it on.

And why do you look down on people who like more adult content? I do appreciate you standing up for me, especially when you don't like or use my stuff (as has just been said, not all my stuff is adult rated), but why look down on me because I prefer more mature content? I'm an adult woman, old enough to be mother to most and even grandma to a few - I am an adult with no hang-ups and so I like content of all types in my game. I don't look down on you because you don't like something that I do, indeed, I admire you for sticking to your principles in the face of adversity. The term 'inappropriate' is subjective. Live and let live.

 

I don't like cheating in games, nor do I like cheat mods. However, it is a single player game and it's up to the individual what they have in the game. I certainly don't look down on those who make and use cheat mods just because I don't like it. That's the beauty of single player - all you have to please is yourself. Each to their own, dude.

 

What you said about MMO's is the truth, and is one of the reasons why I just don't play them. Too many idiots, and when you get one or two that develop a hate thing for you, it just sours what should be a good gaming experience. I used to play Quake 3 years ago, mostly before broadband connections came along, and at the start, there was good cameraderie between players. Maybe it was because connections back then were paid for by the minute, there were more older players than younger ones (the bill-payers!). I was good at the game, I played in international leagues - all through hours of practise off and online.

 

When broadband started to come in, the whole community changed and not for the better. Kids came along, got their arses kicked by me, only to then start accusing me of cheating. Before long I was being kicked off servers because they thought I was cheating. I have never cheated in a game - ever. I use the console in games for mod testing only. I've not played an online game since, and I can certainly understand your pain and feel for you.

 

But please, don't judge someone just because they like something that you don't. Don't look down on us because we like sex, nudity or violence. In games, it hurts no one. It's OK to be different, to have your own opinions. Being different stops us being boring! :)

Kythrius, just so you know i find your comments offensive. All though you are one of the few that have balls enough to say what you think, in this situation you should have went the otherway. This is about slof, and the good work she does. Not about you and how you dont like the male sex organ, or nude chicks, or blood and guts, if you want to talk about that make your own topic, and quick hijacking my thread to push your views.

I loved Aliesloth's mods, I've used them for a long time. Also I just want to add that the amount of flaming and insults is ridiculous. I myself had just pulled off all my mods also from TESNEXUS before I saw this topic, ironically. One of my mod projects was an immense one also with WIP on a continuing basis. Because of the comments, of some I believe are just placed to do harm towards ratings. really only harm the potential reviews of those mods. Such comments are reasons that good modders like REN won't release projects.

What hurts the most is when it is done in public for all to see as it was here. Someone signed up with the sole intent of insulting me. What I've done to upset this individual I will likely never know, but he saw fit to hurt me publicly. I don't quite understand why, but some people (always males, no less, never females) seem to hate this woman for liking and preferring men. :unsure:

 

 

I think the reason this is, is because on your site, you originally had, "*I make only male mods! Please don't ask me to make female ones! This does not mean I am gay!*"

I honestly did not know that you were a woman until quite recently... :ermm:

 

What I find interesting, is that when someone make a sexy armor mod for the female body, all of those flamers (guys) cheer and give it a 10/10. This is most likely because they are Homophobic, and/or are trying to hide their TRUE feelings by acting "Manly," so to speak.
