Read access for everyone to Mod Authors?

I'm just now realizing that not everyone can see the Mod Authors forum. So, now I'm wondering why it's hidden. Is it a bandwidth/load issue, or are we just so ashamed of ourselves that we cannot even be seen communicating?

There's a lot of good information there, and it would be nice to share it with the world. At least, this is just what I think. Anyone who needs to communicate privately can, you know, PM.

Thanks in advance, and I hope this doesn't sound too whiny. I'm not much of a modder, myself. So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about all this.

The mod author forum was put in place (for members with 1000 unique downloads here at the nexus) to better facilitate communication between The Nexus staff and the mod authors and the mod authors with each other. A place where they can communicate, share, vent with each other without the interference and grief that comes with posting many things that come up, on the general forums. There are no special perks, it is a place where authors can feel more safe and open up about issues they have, honestly without worrying about watching their words. Also it allows mod authors to bounce ideas off one another without post from people that do not understand about the mechanics of modding dropping in post like, "Make this sword it would so PWN!!!"

It isn't a secret, any good ideas in there ultimately get shared in some way with the community....so no one is missing any "good" secret squirrel stuff.

I'm not saying anyone should be allowed to post there. That was never my intention. I just thought it may be cool to let people read it. Unless we're up to something naughty in there.

And again....if everyone can see it (then of course they can post elsewhere about it) then it defeats the purpose of trying to make a comfortable place for modders to have. I promise that anything good that happens in the modders section gets taken to the community.

Also, allowing anyone to read the authors only forums would lead to the authors being PMd with the comments that regular members couldn't post. And, new topics on the open site where they would copy paste stuff from the authors forms just so they could comment.
