SamuraiHei
So I am new to modding with FO3 and thought I should follow the step by step instructions given on youtube. Well when I reach the step to create a merged path I get this: Background Loader: [C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\] Setting Resource Path. It terminates and I have no idea what to do???
Fonger
Background Loader: [C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\] Setting Resource Path.looks like just another UAC issue caused by installing to the default (and cursed) directory simplest solution is to get your game away from that red directory
SamuraiHei
Should I turn off UAC to allow the merge or move the file away? In your opinion which is better?
AlfredTetzlaff
Right click on the FO3Edit Icon and choose "Run as Administrator" and answer the system popup with yes, that should fix your problem. If not, follow Fongers advice above :)
M48A5
@SamuraiHeiIf you move the game, FO3Edit will not work. FO3Edit locates you game files by using the registry. When you install the game, the location is recorded in the regsitry and if you just move the game, the registry entry does not change. You can make this change yourself by editing the registry, if you know what you are doing. The other solution is to uninstall the game and than reinstall it outside of the program files. A reinstall outside of the program files will aid stability.
SeanNorm
I've just tried both suggestions mentioned in this thread to no avail, neither worked. Thanks anyway! Also, I do realize this thread is probably dead but it doesn't seem to have a conclusion. I stumbled across it doing a google search so I figured I'd leave this here for anyone else that happens to have the same issue and finds this thread. Dopezilla
Running into the same problem. Also, these solutions don't work for me. Is this one of Vista 64-bit's classic antics?
Dopezilla
Found something out. It seems it's not humanly possible to get this thing running as administrator. Even though I keep trying to change the authorizations they automatically revert to their original settings which prevent me from running it as administrator. What the hell is all this? Dopezilla
Bumping for glory. We can't be the only two with this problem, right? Again, all suggestions don't do jack for us.
vforvic
Are you running FO3Edit from the "Fallout 3" directory and do you have UAC off? Are you running Vista and what is your load order?
