ParagonLegion
Hay I've been wondering this is there a certain date that you should just only use up to date mods? What I mean is it best to use mods after a certain update or are all olds even really old ones alright?Sorry if this question sounds crazy, but I couldn't find answer. DoctorKaizeld
if a newer version is released you should update, but you dont have to and if the mod is used by other mods you should check and make sure it wontbreak anything first.
ParagonLegion
Thanks for the reply, what I'm trying to figure out is if old mods that haven't been updated still work with Fallout 4?Mind you I guess I'd have to check per-mod,but was perhaps wondering if there was a date I should go by like for example "any mods not updated since 2017 shouldn't be used" that sort of thing. Bernt
I don't think you can put any expiry date on mods. I'm ususally downloading manually alongside - or instead of- NMM. Which means that I've got quite an extensive library of mods squared away on my drives. Dating all the way back to when the game was released and modding started using FO4edit. I'm at 1.9.4 now. And I haven't experienced any trouble loading my favorites. Even some old ones no longer around. MY main problem has been building mods - SKE, Homemaker etc- not wanting to work smoothly together. This has taken a bit of fiddling and deciding which were most important to me.
NeirDead
I think its important to update mostly for new features to mods. Many Fallout 4 mods are still WIP. So you don't want to miss out new features or bug fixes for mods.
Deleted3082751User
always read the change logs if applicable, and then decide for your self. updates are not always gurantee, they can introduce more bugs, whilst fixing other bugs. but they can also, and mostly do introduce new features, but can also delete older features that could of been good. so yea, change logs are the way forward. even more important on much bigger mods, as the update could of introduced something you don't really care about, and this would then mean you would be downloading a massive file for a minor change that you dont really care about, thus wasting time, bandwidth (assuming you do not have broadband, which quite a few don't) and harddrive space (even more important on Solid State Drives, due to limited space) so yea, case in point - change logs are the determining factor of whether to update or not. the smaller the file, the less of the need to think about updating. just do it. but the bigger files is where you start thinking. unless you happen to have a lot of harddrive space and very fast connection then it don't really matter. just go ahead. but yea Change logs are the determining factor. also remember that new features could interfere with other mods you happen to be using and thus would create issues.
