Takenotes
Hello everyone, I just did a fresh install and update of Skyrim and my game crashes very VERY frequently to the desktop. I'd say anywhere between every 60 seconds to 4-5 minutes. I somehow managed to get through Helgen and now before I can do anything significant, I crash before even being able to explore any towns, caves, mines, dungeons, castles, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any idea? I let Skyrim auto detect settings and it set everything to ultra high. High Shadows is a common theme among games today that causes frequent crashes and bugs so I turned it down to high, medium, low, etc to no avail. I'm running windows XP with an NVidia Sapphire HD 5770 OC 1GB DDR5. 4GB Kingston Ram. Please help D: I'd like to make any sort of progress in the game >.< Edited March 5, 2012 by Takenotes
Lunytic
Have you turned off all mods? Have you tried to validate through steam? Are you running SKSE or Script Dragon?
Takenotes
Have you turned off all mods? Have you tried to validate through steam? Are you running SKSE or Script Dragon? I'm not using ANY mods at all. Just the original skyrim install from Steam. It's an official copy bought through steam and DL'd through steam. I'm not running SKSE or Script Dragon. I just want Skyrim to work D:
eleglas
This has just started happening with me. I was moving some files around, and when I launched Skyrim, it instantly crashes. Nothing I was doing should make it crash, but I undid it anyway and it still crashes instantly. So does the Nexus Mod Manager, again. I didn't do anything. Whats happening? Alas, I'm Skyrim less and beginning to feel the withdrawal symptoms kicking in D:
infael
I have the same problem and I suspect it has to do with Steam.
MotoSxorpio
Have you monitored your GFX card for overheating?
Takenotes
I have the same problem and I suspect it has to do with Steam. It's definitely NOT my graphics card. It never comes anywhere CLOSE to overheating and I play every game on Ultra (or higher -.O) and never does it go above like 55 Celcius. Anyhow, I've noticed that there are often missing textures and apparently I'm using some kind of SKSE UI? I didn't even realize I had this? Is this standard through Steam..? maybe I should update the UI? Is there anything to fix missing textures? Maybe I have corrupted data files? I REALLY WANT SKYRIM TO STOP CRASHING :'(
