What do you think? Should Rush Limabugh lose sponsors for his show due to the unkind and careless remarks made recently?

The question of whether to continue sponsorship is up to each company that advertises on or endorses EIB Network and/or its affiliates. Since Limbaugh (and thus EIB) has a daily audience of millions it is highly likely (for purely corporate profit motives) that few, if any will. If any of the current advertisers withdraw, there are a good number that will gladly jump into the market-share of talk radio that Limbaugh commands.

Should they? That is an altogether different question and one subject to political, ethical and other biases in supporting a should claim (in the context of forming a formal logical argument).

Problem is that most sponsors don't want to be seen as promotors of some of the things Rush says. They have been dropping him ever since he called what's her name a flirt on the air and claimed that any woman who uses birth control is a prostitute. No company wants to be assoicated with s*** like that because woman buy 90% of all products in America. You don't want to be assoiacted with a guy who says bad things about the people you sell things to. They might stop buying.

And as I point out, those advertisers/sponsors that dropped Limbaugh were replaced by those whose only real motivation is getting their product messages out to the market share that Limbaugh commands. Perhaps it is some cosmic advertising tenet that advertising abhors a vacuum and will fill empty time slots. The net result on the profitability and popularity of Limbaugh's talk radio show has been negligible. Go figure.

Rush Limbaugh is a shock jock. He speaks just to spark a reaction from certain people, whether its positive or negative depends on the person. He is about getting ratings, and he delivers on that fairly well. Whether you love him or hate him, he has become too big to get thrown off the air. The ones who think he is entertaining, is because he is controversial.

The ones throwing a fit over it and making a public outcry are just giving him publicity which leads to him getting more ratings. In the end you are just feeding the troll. This guy isn't like Don Imus, and is far richer and more powerful. Rush says what he does for ratings, and he doesn't care because nobody can touch him. Any sponsors he loses will be replaced, because most companies don't care. Especially the sales and marketing division that is just looking to get their product exposed on a show that lots of people tune into. Its strictly business.

I know some Liberals who even listen to him just so they can see what he is saying, and then whine about it. Not only is he trolling them, but he is taking the ratings he gets right to the bank.
