Deathoctimus
Hi I wish to run this poll for a bit to see what race choices people play purely for modding purposes. Thank you kindly Death Octimus.
Niborino9409
I can't decide over 1 only lol Edit: I managed. Edited September 14, 2017 by Niborino9409
Jeir
I'm assuming you mean 'to play as' rather than 'as a NPC/companion's race'? Or perhaps based on their lore? To play as: Imperial. Played as a female Imperial assassin since Morrowind (and...as Skyrim removed classes, stealth-archer for that, 'woo'), as I liked that they were mostly personality/speech-based. Otherwise a modded elven race (Stone Elf in Morrowind, Epic Elf in Oblivion). To have as a companion: Male Dunmer, Altmer, Nord, Imperial, Breton, maybe Bosmer (if taller than my char), in that order. No interest at all in the other races listed, and none in female NPCs of any race.Lore-wise: Dunmer and/or Ayleid.

nightscrawl
I voted Nord. I'll state right off that I prefer to play humans, so that narrows my initial choices. Because of the lore and story surrounding it, I like the idea of my Dragonborn being a Nord. For pure roleplay, I find the Alternate Start mod to be absolutely essential for true freedom of choice. With this current play, in the CC I picked Nord race as usual, but I made his skin a few shades darker; I RP that he's mixed Nord/Redguard and was raised in Hammerfell, so he doesn't have a personal investment in the outcome of the civil war. I prefer the warrior-style of play, which also makes Nord appealing to me. If I went with magic, I'd probably go with Breton or Imperial.

Khajiit however really is last choice, I feel they both don't fit to well. However they do add non-human elements to the game so I see there place. The extra work you have to make meshes fit there body, this is one of the main reasons for this poll.
BahamutKaiser
Skyrim is pretty Nord centric, I don't even feel like Dragonborn fits unless it's a human of some sort, primarily Nord. Don't know if this applies at all, but it would be cool if some mods adapted the alternate player start to have a hero with alternate powers beside the Dragonborn ones to accommodate other races. Maybe even feature the Dragonborn as a follower for a regular guy? Probably not your interest though, just a curiosity of mine, the idea of an Adlmeri Dragonborn makes me vomit a bit
thumbincubation
I always play Breton, because of the magic resistance. A Breton, with the Lord Stone and the blessing of Mara, is in a much better position to deal with everything from mages to dragons.
bobofudd
Well, I thought I'd go ahead and take the poll since I could be the only person that chose High Elf. Not sure why I went that route since High Elf ended up being the hated race in Skyrim. Didn't know that at the time of creation. It turned out to be an interesting side effect though as I felt neutral to the civil war and felt as if my character was there to balance out the universe with all the bad things the Thalmor have done. Closing in on level 80, my character is a complete badass and I love it. Still in Oldrim for now, but I'm planning on replaying the character again in SE once I see some more mods make the move to SE.
LeddBate
Nord, but Khajiit was a very close second for me.
