Trouble with the Unicorn...

This question isn't for me, per se, but for my friend.

So, my friend has a bit of a problem. He successfully captured a Unicorn and rode it around, and then he lost it. :pinch:

He knows it's dead, because it doesn't appear when he fast-travels, and he needs the horn for the Hircine Quest.

Any suggestions?

Sincerely,

gman021

P.S. I am NOT the friend! I could easily use the console to add the horn into my inventory. My friend doesn't have the PC version. He has the PS3 Version instead. :yucky:

Hope that (^) information helps!

The unicorn has an AI package similar to Shadowmere, in that if you are apart for a certain amount of time it will return to the grove. Just because it does not follow when you fast travel, doesn't really mean it's dead, just that you're too far apart to claim ownership. Shadowmere does the same thing if you let her get back to Fort Farrogut she will no longer follow you via fast travel. The unicorn will walk (not run) back to the grove along as straight a path as possible. Again, like Shadowmere, the unicorn will fight every hostile creature it encounters on the way, but unfortunately the unicorn is not indestructible like Shadowmere, so it stands a high chance of being ogre food.

Go check the grove again in a couple of game days, it may have got lucky and survived the trip.

Yeah, we did. It's been abut a month (game time & real time), and she still hasn't come back.

The thing we're worried about, is the Unicorn's body disappearing, along with the horn.

Does the body disappear? Because if not, we could probably do a systematic search of Cyrodill... I know, we have no life, right? :ninja:

I killed a Mythic Dawn agent outside Bruma more than 500 real-time hours ago and her body is still there. Judging by that, there's a good chance you may be able to find the unicorns body, but I do not know for certain.

And your children's children's children will be looking for it. Sometimes just being on the other side of a rock or bush could hide it. And looking for it at night is right out.

Since it's not PC, she can't get the mod "Dude, where's my horse", can she ? If and the operative word is if, she can use the mod and hasn't ridden another, it will show where the last horse type critter she rode is.

Ah, hell, I'll help out. Tell ya what, I'll boot up my game and I'll search the area east of the river, south of that road that goes to the town on the east side of the map..... :P

I think you are right. The 'best' way here points to console cheating. Sore thing but...

the unicorn horn must figure at several formid items list around there, or found via CS.

You are gonna have to ask him where he got off the horse to fast travel and where he fast travelled to. Naturally, the horse should be around there if it is dead, also the unicorn will never belong to you even if you get on it. Check on the most direct route to the grove from the spot where he left the unicorn. That seems to be the most valid choice. Good luck!

Actually, my friend is male. The Unicorn is a female, I do believe.

And no, it's not the PC version. It's the PS3 version.

*Sigh* Well, we'll keep looking...

That's alright! :D

I guess next time I'm at his house, we'll look for it...

Because if a quest item is on somethings body, the body can't disappear, can it?
