RoninPryyst
when I launch F4SE through Nexus I do not get the Creation Kit on the list or the mods. When I launched F4SE from desktop none of my mods loaded and I had to activate all of them again. Pain.
Transient3292
I hate the argument of,"They can get worse in later games with microtransactions." Don't get me wrong, the business side of Bethesda is flat out evil. But in till they get there I'm ok with the CC. My only grip is with the breaking of the script extender and the items are overpriced. But despite being overpriced I did get a few items and I will continue to buy items I'm interested in.If everyone had that attitude, then we would most certainly see a future where we can only add mods that Bethesda put out through cc. the argument that you "hate" is that if we allow any company to bend us over a little bit, we will for sure get totally screwed. they are in it for the money, which is understandable, but we as consumers that choose to follow and buy up anything that they release, need to have reasonable boundaries that they are aware of. it's how all businesses that gain a following work and continue to release quality content that is worth the asking price. RipVanWinkleX
I understand. I am one of the few who finds it somewhat reasonable. I don't mind others hating the CC, I just don't believe in the "we are going to lose our mod freedom in later games". That's just what gets me. CasperTheLich
if bethesda could make a profit from killing free mods without backlash or a way to mitigate it from a total cost/profit prospective they will do it... however, while keeping that in mind i also feel if they attempted to do so, they would ensure their own destruction, and they are fairly well aware of that given the current state of affairs. however, if the modding community does get to complacent, or bethesda gamer fans become to indifferent... the whole situation will change, and when in bethesda's eyes the cost of killing free mods is outweighed by the potential profits therein free modding in bethesda games will die. and, frankly... i can see that happening, not today, mind you. but a tomorrow not too far away. Monomaniacal
Massive Fallout and Elder Scrolls fan here. Very enthusiastic user of free mods. I'm not real quick at learning the technicalities of making large numbers of mods work in one play through, but my love for the games has meant I've forced myself to put in the time and effort to figure it out. The thing is... I think I'm done. If CC means regular game updates means F4SE getting broken on a regular basis, f-it, I'm out. I'll maybe have a go at using the mod in the link above to back up my .exe files, maybe try to get into the habit of setting up Steam so it doesn't auto-update the game, but these are all just cosmetic. The truth of it is, I've lost respect for Bethesda in a big way. They're dicking around a huge number of devoted fans for a quick buck, and I think I'm done with them. I think it's a huge shame.
