Yeah that mod worked, but the NPC called Sybille sentor or something in blue palace is a vampire and her face is black...

It is Better Vampire NPCs fix is you need to refresh the facegendata.

 

Simplest fix is to add a mod that changes the appearance of npcs like You can install the Total Character makeover and place it AFTER the BVNPC and problem should be fixed. IF not.....

CK solution, find every single NPC that was modified, highlight it and hit ctrl+f4 then wait for about 5-20 minutes based on your PC for the CK to generate the facegen data. If you are doing this using Mod Organizer files will be generated into the ovewrite folder. If not, you need to find where they were generated. Pack it up, Install, fixed.

 

Step by step in CK. This took a while.

StartCK

Load BettervampiresNpcs.esp (make it active)

select the "Actors" in the filter put in *vamp*

Look at the all the EditorIDs on the right hand side of the object window.

Now select ALL the records that has the asterics nest to it. The star thingy *

For simple selection hold CTRL and click on first record. then hold shift and click on the last edited record in the first section. etc.

Once all the records with * has been selected hold ctrl and click f4. Now you are waiting a loooong time.

Now the more tedious part.

Clear the filter and look for any named npcs that has been changed and don't have "vamp" somewhere in the editorID name, cause we have done those already.

Select all, one by one. took me about 3 minutes to select all of them. And agiain CTRL + F4.

Done 99% of black faces should be fixed. 1% is for those you might have missed in the CK BUT now you know how to fix those :wink:

 

This was really annoying to fix.

Now there is a version that doesn't change the faces so if you want to avoid the above then use that.

so when posting a solution to a problem, it is good to actually try to replicate the bug ......... I am not able to. I was experiencing this problem I have disabled the fixes, I have done a ton of other stuff, suddenly it is all working even without the fix. I am Confused.... Well it is working now so hopefully the above will help you guys. I am interested in talking to somebody who will get this bug to pin point where is the issue. So just PM if you can;t fix this yourselves.

This issue arises from changes made to the Vampire Race by Bethesda when they released Dawnguard & USLEEP (Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch)/USSEP (Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch) by Unofficial Patch Project Team. I'm very surprised the game isn't CTDing due to the borked facegendata. Unlike Oldrim, Skyrim SE has been known to CTD whenever an NPC's facegendata is borked/broken like in the photos above. Loshirai released a mod that fixed this issue for Oldrim but I don't think said mod was ever ported over to Skyrim SE.

Just got the black face bug on a vampire. Generating the face gen files and then doing npcsetweight 35 fixed it.

Be patient unplug all of your mod one by one. Try the game as you unplug them and figure out which mod makes vampires have dark faces.

 

That's my best advice.

 

I found the mod that made vampires have a black face myself. It's a mod from LoverLab so i won't even spit the name outloud.

I've just encountered the black face issue. So far, all vampires I've encountered are okay. However, if I convert Jordis the Sword-maiden into a vampire, her face turns black. I've messed around with load order, as well as deactivating and reactivating mods.

 

I looked into Total Char Makeover, but, since it doesn't have a plugin (it's just meshes and textures, i think), I'm not sure how to change the load order?

 

I followed Darkangle13's instructions, from creation kit, above, but it didn't change anything.

 

Anybody have any other ideas I can try? Listed my mod list first, load order second.
