LanceClemings
Sorry if this may be a dumb question, but I was late to the party when I realize that Steam no longer sells Skyrim legendary edition, instead just special edition. So, I went ahead and bought a physical copy for my friend, since she wanted it for her birthday on the condition that I would teach her the basics of modding. Would modding Skyrim obtained from a physical copy be different in any way, or could I easily treat it like a steam bought downloaded copy? DoctorKaizeld
the physical copy of the game is still installed through Steam
LadyMilla
Provided that the physical copy comes with a Steam activation key and installs (or attempts to install) Steam, there will be no difference. If it does not, that's another story.
TheGreatFalro
They still do sell it, it's just hidden from the search. Use a friend's profile or the Store Page link in the community hub to access it. Though since it won't be discounted any time soon, I suppose a cheap physical copy would work. And as the others have said, any legal physical copy will activate on Steam (and I believe the disk only has a Steam installation on it), so it really doesn't matter either way. LordGrievous
http://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/ Have to buy the DLC separately though, so you'll end up paying a premium for a full install.
LanceClemings
Ty everyone. I already bought the legendary edition online and having it shipped. Glad to know my paranoia was unwarranted, since I have seen several times that pirated 'non-steam' copies of the game might have mod issues, so I wasn't sure if a physical copy would have similar issues. Granted, my friend is not nearly as anal about small annoyances as I am, but I will still teach her the basics of modding and make her install some bugfix stuff as bare essentials, as that was the condition I gave her for her birthday present. Now, how does one possibly 'lock' this thread now that my questions and concerns have been answered?
DoctorKaizeld
Now, how does one possibly 'lock' this thread now that my questions and concerns have been answered?you don't. threads only get locked when an issue arises and a mod deems it necessary to lock it
