Garthis
Ok I have spent 8 hours today trying to figure this out/find a tutorial on this. I am trying to make a replacement mesh for the default bodies in Fallout New Vegas. I found quite a few on how to make static items and even a few on how to make armor, and I even tried to modify the tutorials on how to make armor to work with the bodies. Nothing seems to work. I have all the appropriate plugins for max and I thought I would start out simple and merely modify a model that I know already worked so I used the .inf for a body replacer I downloaded. I imported it modified the mesh and then exported it. When I started up the game all I got was a screen full of disjointed polygons. I then went through too many forum posts to think about trying to find the answer. I eventually tried just importing the pre made .inf, not changing a thing, and export it. It was only a marginal success with the body completely missing now leaving me a floating head and hands. I know this is not an impossible task and I would like to know how to do this. If I ever get this figured out I plan on making a detailed tutorial to guide others through similar problems.
Ghogiel
import the skeleton and the body mesh into a max scene. export settings http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/imageshare/images/209926-1274905546.jpg iirc the shader block may not export with the settings it imported with as the niftools shader doesn't have a place to store some of those settings, so check in nifskope that the shader type is set to shader_skin. and aslo double check the shader flags, depending on your nifskope version, what shader flags tutorials tell you to use for skinned mesh will be incorrect, nifskope has recently updated the names of the shader flags so anything that tells you to enable SF_shadow_map etc will be old, you have to refer to the vanilla nif to see what shader flags are used, and just make sure yours match.
