DubbyXI
Ok I have had windows 7 for a long, have alot of CDs with different versions ie: ultimate, home premium and etc. I have had no problems with it as much. When i switched to windows 10 some things happened.... 1. Drivers for my mic refused to work.2. Could not use xbox 360 afterglow wired controller. for some odd reason. I could not deal with this so I decided to downgrade back to windows 7. Mic still did not work but it was before the upgrade. Controller worked though. Now my friends are egging me to upgrade to windows 10. I have a new gaming headset with mic and my xbox controller works with my system. I play games good except fo4 city areas+enb. Got uhhhh:i5-4690k Non OC8gb ramgtx 1060 6gb vram My question is: is it safe to upgrade to windows 10? Jannifer
I have to admit that I have had no problems with Windows 10. There are a couple of little things that are different, but nothing that I haven't been able to find a work-around for. However, I would recommend doing a clean install of 10 rather that simply updating. It seems that the updating process can leave undesirable files hanging around which can cause issues. Also, if you update your OS, make sure that you get new drivers for your devices. If the drivers aren't compatible with 10 and Windows doesn't have a default, then your devices won't work. Not updating the drivers is probably why things quit working the first time you upgraded.
Erik005
Lately I have had more driver issues with windows 7 than 10. Windows 10 actually seems to work better on some of my ancient socket 775 systems. I only use windows 7 when I want to use older graphics cards that don't have windows 10 drivers Edited October 25, 2017 by Erik005
HeyYou
Verify there are actually windows 10 drivers for the various hardware you want to plug in to your machine. I agree on the fresh install, over the 'upgrade', the upgrade seldom goes as planned, and having the system revert back to the previous operating system, REALLY doesn't work as advertised, it pretty much breaks everything in task scheduler. Dasumianco
windows 10 seems to of improved since the initial version was released in terms of drivers and hardware, I had problems with drivers for a sound card i had (it was forcing front panel audio) but found a workaround installing generic drivers rather than the up to date release's.. Another problem I had was with my HP printer (HP have now corrected this).. but found that running the installer in compatibility mode installed the drivers correctly, enabling wireless printing.. Rabbit1251
Window 7 was lovely. I loved it from the very start. But Windows 10 is great, too. Plus it has support for all the new, and powerful, hardware. Now it's Win 10 for me. The Rabbit
