Werne
Well, ever since that american soldier killed those civilians in Afghanistan I've been receiving notices from the army about sending me back to Afghan. It seems the taliban guys there are now angry and they might try and retaliate so all soldiers with combat experience are to report to their superior officers in order to get transfered to our bases in Afghan. I'll be shipped in monday and will be staying there untill we can confirm that there is no threat. I think I'll be there for a month or two, maybe more. I really don't want to go back there, I got shot twice, some of my friends that served with me died out there and I literally have nightmares about that place. Also, there seems to be problems there as well. From what I've heard, US Army considers backing out from Afghanistan to reduce the tension but they are leaving us behind so they at least have someone on the lookout while they are gone, they have already reduced their activity around our base and are slowly cutting us off of support. That means that if those guys truly do want revenge they will attack us and we'll have to sort it out on our own, which means we'll probably get to see does god truly exist. I just don't like the situation we are in, we got too many guys out there that can't even hold their rifle straight, they wouldn't stand a chance against the talibans. And I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not but I got promoted to a rank of sergeant. Our base is full of inexperienced soldiers that only saw combat in Call Of Duty so the army decided that I should be promoted to command some of them, since I have experience. Now I get to command a recon squad and none of them know how real combat looks like, I'm afraid I'll get them all killed. I'm honestly not sure that promoting me is a good thing, I believe I'd be of more use following orders instead of giving them but my superiors don't seem to think that way. And that's my bloody luck, I wanted to go to on a vacation with my girlfriend and now I'm sent to a middle of nowhere and there's a posibility that I'll come back in a coffin. I really hate my life. Thor.
Ouch sounds like your under a lot of pressure, maybe you could recruit SubjectProphet or something, Knowing he might be in the same situation as you. Well probably not considering what hes been through and everything. Maybe you could ask him for advice. Edited March 14, 2012 by Thor.
SubjectProphet
UPDATE: Just got a call saying that small groups are being dispatched and if deployed you'd be there till they clear it up. But it didn't include names. Edited March 14, 2012 by SubjectProphet
Flintlockecole
Lead by example man, also be a complete hard ass. They'll hate you on the way home for it but they''ll be on the way home which is better than the alternative. Training will kick in when the time comes, if the time comes in. Oh and heres advice that was given to me by my Great Grandfather; "When in doubt, bayonet the lout", well the last bit been altered to be not as offensive. Deleted472477User
Oh gods. I won't go on a rant here--it won't help--but you have my concern and well wishes to you. It's a tough situation, and I hope you'll come through.
RitualBlack
Sounds really rough  . I have no experience with war so nothing I could say would be of any use but I do wish you the best of luck. The men you are going to lead sound like they really need you so you will have to be hard on them. They need to know you are in charge and you will have to be able to count on them. Once again, I wish you luck and good health.
Vindekarr
You've already done one thing right, you're taking your responsibilities as an Sgt. seriously, and that's important. You could have done a lot worse, atleast you're paying attention.
VesemirTheWitcher
You have my deep concern. What a senseless war... Thanks to those taliban b@stards the global image of islam is getting worse by the minute. From my point of view, they're not muslims. I agree with vindekarr. The way you feel about your troops is probably how any decent recently promoted sergeant has felt. All i can do is wish you luck.
Werne
I honestly have to admit vesemir is right, that war and the event that started it should've never happened. Many soldiers lost their lives fighting and it seems it's all for nothing. A whole decade past and we're still in the same spot fighting the same enemy for the same cause. There are no winners in war, only survivors and casualties. But nevermind that, it's just me rambling. I've been working for the past 24 hours, mostly filling out forms requesting ammunition and rifle-cleaning kits for the squad. I don' know why but the guy I replaced didn't order any rifle-cleaning kits, it's the one thing you need to have when you use a sniper rifle. I've seen soldiers cleaning their rifles in the middle of a gunfight but we snipers are different, there's only one perfect chance and if we blow it because of faulty equipment (un-aligned scope, dirt in the firing mechanism, mailfunctioning firing pin, etc.), we're dead. The rest of the time I had I've spent at the range, I had to get used to a larger caliber, got a new rifle issued (I'll show it off later in the post). And I've got some more specific explanations and instructions from my new superior. I hate that guy, but I hate all the stuck-up officers which is like 90% of them. It seems I'll be spending most of my time in the field, but there is a good thing about that. The guys I'm going to command, I know all of them, they all served with me last year so I know what they can and can't do and I can be assured they will get the job done. They are all nuts however, most of them has PTSD and the rest were always insane. But don't misjudge, insanity is an advantage in combat. I've seen soldiers that have over 10 years of combat experience just freeze out of panic and fear. But that is not the case with lunatics, they would rip a person's head off in the middle of a fight and actually enjoy doing it. Seeing that crazy look in their eyes chills my blood, mostly because I'm as crazy as they are. And now there's one thing that actually made me happy. Since my old rifle was wrecked beyond recognition (I literally desintegrated it from use) I get a new one. And since I love huge calibers the army gave me just the right one. I now get to use this monster:http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_MfiWIl48zU/TaluVLFKx3I/AAAAAAAAFKw/l5RcyPzKCUM/s1600/rt-20_sniper_rifle_20_mm_asda_2011_defence_exhibition_split_croatia_01.jpg This is RT-20M1, (rucni top or hand cannon) I already received it and a few rounds to try it out. I must say it's a beauty, one of the world's most powerful rifles and it makes a hell of a boom. It's a 20mm anti-material heavy sniper rifle, which is a nice rise in caliber from my old Zastava M93 (50 caliber, 12.7mm). It's designed to penetrate armored personel carriers or other armored vehicles, disabling tanks and assassinating officers at long ranges. A well placed shot from this thing can destroy a T-80's engine and the detonation is so loud you can barely hear after you fire it. I love it. @SubjectProphet Well, from what I hear there were some minor disturbances already. Though it's just a couple of shootings, nothing much. And it seems US is staying there so I might even come home sooner than I thought. At least I hope I will. Edited March 15, 2012 by Werne
