Fallout NewEarth Epic Madness

The figures that had been destroyed by an ancient weapon, of the EverDoomWar, in the chamber of the metallic organic mechanism, had been created by a mattercator device. It could easily have been the experimental mattercator in the Museum of Technology despite that the incident had taken place just before Doomsday.

They were in a secondary chamber to the central control chamber of the DocTARDIS that was largely bare apart from scientific mechanisms and carefully encapsulated samples of mattercated shapeforms.

DocWho, frustrated by delays in the departure of the expeditionary group, examined a datascreen of Timelordic nature with many 4Ddatasymbols including ones created by the great-terrible Timelord Rassilon himself.

DocWho: "The mechanism appears to be linked with the NewEarth Coreworld which means the great transdimensional prison. Perhaps the Shadotaze infested, mattercated entities, were attempting to do something that would make it easier for at least some prisoners escape. Those prisoners then did so being mostly Shadotaze but with some others doing the same being the doppelgangers and the phallicari; I fear what else might have escaped. Perhaps the mattercators, as used by PreDD humanity, helped Shadotaze to escape in some way by them possessing the mattercated shapeforms."

Suzanne: "Perhaps not all mattercators but only the XB1 experimental mattercators such as the one in the Museum of Technology. According to the little information, that we have on them, they were an attempt to make the mattercating process more energy efficient and safer than those used by standard AB1 to DB1 type mechanisms."

At least one more piece to the big puzzle was falling into place. Except that the answers, so far, begged more questions. Was it accidental that the XB1 mattercators did what they did or was it part of a hidden agenda? Was possession, by Shadotaze, really the explanation for the mattercated shapeforms that, sooner or later, collapsed and melded, or was it something else."

The PaleOneMan had not decided yet whether he would remain with the DocTARDIS or go with the expedition; it seemed he was starting to choose the second option. "Shadomass is what the mattercated entity masses are called but is also the title of the great, primary, mass that is now in the NullVoid. Could the truth be that part of the Greater Shadomass is trapped inside the Coreworld. If that is the case, then it must be allowed to escape only to be sent into the NullVoid to rejoin with the rest of the Shadomass."

DocWho: "I would say that we are missing something except that we are missing more than one thing which means once more going over all of our information from the very start. Of course you may have something to add, PaleOneMan."

PaleOneMan: "Only that one gained a large, quite scrambled, set of messages from the PaleEmpire before being totally blocked off from one's home realm. One has been busy attempting to both unscramble-repair-read the messages and to understand-infiltrate the communications barrier set up between oneself and home."

"One has also obtained an emergency message from PaleNexiHigh5 who has been betrayed by other PaleNexiFolk. That one appears to be imprisoned in the Museum of Technology. Except that there is something about the message that does not ring true. One suspects it is an attempt to draw one into a trap. One is going on the expedition while remaining linked with the PaleOneZone."

Yet more information was needed and hopefully that was in the Museum of Technology.

Movements, of the Shadotaze moving to the Museum of Technology from many points in the GrandMall, had caused the delay in the expedition setting out. Scouts had gone out to check the route again and it was changed to some extent thanks to travelling, barely organised, groups of the shadowy ones. It appeared that many had been damaged-wounded and estimated that many had been destroyed-killed in the fighting. The Shadotaze had not, in general, been winning though they had not been outright losing either.

They travelled, as a carefully organised group, through a subway road tunnel once largely used by government and corporation employees. The NewEarth Super Subway Network extended across much of the world and while much of it was well known of, much of it had been secondary or secretive. The GrandMall Project had sunk fortified museum archives deep beneath the ground along with other facilities. Attempts to learn more had quickly come up with the truth that while much used, primary areas, were had more basic layouts, as were major secondary areas, others were more like mazes.

The special emergency monorail tram followed a tram monorail smaller than the monotrain monorail running along the same tunnel. Ceiling security turrets became fully active, as the transport got closer to them, but did not fire thanks to the Timelords' hacking of some computer network-systems. They had only non lethal weapons anyway.

DocWho spoke from where he sat close to the door to the small monotrains driver cabin being used. The monotram had two carriages but each had a driver cabin either end meaning they could go independent as trams and travel more easily in both directions. Dazanne was in the front along with a local scout.

DocWho: "The subway network is amazingly large and was only about half used. This could have been a plan for future population expansion and yet there is something about the layout that hints at something else."

The PaleOneMan spoke from where he sat. "There are whole networks of tunnels whose function appears to be obscure; the networks are oddly planned out and have odd features to them. One thinks almost of energy flow circuits, when one studies them, but that is more of PaleMassFolk ways, not human ones."

Rubin spoke quietly. "It was a way that the Warden God tried in reinforcing the Coreworld prison through manipulating humanity and their computers but there was interference, counter-manipulation, by the darkest, most evil, most powerful of the imprisoned entities in the Coreworld. The 'seventh' people of Skaro, of NewEarth, were-are but its cunning, malignant, followers. It is the one that caused the EverDoomWar to escape from the NullVoid only to end up imprisoned in the NewEarth Coreworld largely thanks to its own over cunning and excessive manipulations. One can only tell you certain things at the proper time and when you are ready to hear them. Soon the tram will change its course, suddenly and in a strange manner."

Then it was happening. The tram drew to a halt even as part of the track turned to one side, which had looked to be impossible, until it was at a forward bent angle to the main direction of the monorail. A secret door opened as the tram started up again and was soon heading out of the original tunnel into a secret, smaller, one. As it left behind the bigger tunnel the monorail went back to straight and the secret door closed.

From the driver cabin came the muffled sound of fighting that quickly ended. Then the door, to that cabin, opened and Dazanne showed. "The doppelganger changed, and attacked, but I was ready for it. Unfortunately it died from some kind of internal device activating and there is nothing left as it disintegrated. Reports came that the other fake scouts suffered the same fate. The real scouts, what ever remains of them, are yet to be found."

Saltis spoke. "The real scouts are in dopplercapsules used to assist the fake scouts seem more like the real ones. They fooled most, even those used to hunting for shapeshifters. This is but one faction of doppelgangers. We will find them after the tram stops, where the Warden God has much to show us. We have another surprise coming before then."

38.2

The tram travelled right through a strange sparkling-shimmering filled gateway and, exactly five seconds later, was over 10 kilometres away. Then the tram was slowing to a halt in a large subway station that clearly was not a normal one. It was massive with monstrous, heavily armoured-armed, monotrains at platforms with large robotic mechanisms for loading-unloading of equipment-supplies. There were weapon turrets with powerful, very lethal, weapons and plenty of unmoving military robots. Power armoured soldiers were frozen into place, standing with battlerifles, lasers, and other big weapons still in place.

As the expeditionary group disembarked, Lyons Pride went first with its upgraded gear including T45XY power armour as their suits were now designated. MissFortune went with the Wonder5 as did Tannin and the Timelord with the Timelordite. There were also four carrierbots with extra equipment-supplies, two eyebots, a MrHandy, and two MrGutsys.

The platform soldiers clearly had bigger, more powerful, sets of power armour than did the Pridetroopers. The type of power armour was not known being not variations of T45, T51, T60, X01 and a few others. Yet that had not saved the soldiers for they were riddled with thousands of tiny holes as were the turrets and robots but not the monotrains.

DocWho spoke. "Wonder5, have you any information of what happened here?"

Saltis shook her head. "The Warden God does not want to be asked but only to give information when it can be. Yet it states that the power armour had inside them Shadotaze hybrids of shazemans being terrible hybrids of humans and shaze. There is not much left of them now except some small traces that you can examine. You will find many clues, here, that will lead you further along the path to the truth. The Warden God is limited in what it can tell you, how much it can intervene, having protocols much like those of the Timelords."

DocWho nodded. "Then we need must respect that. Why are there no holes in the monotrains?"

Saltis only shrugged.

The only Timelord there smiled. "It was a rhetorical question, sweety salty."

Salt nodded solemnly. "There must be some good loot around here to take."

"Shazemans were the result of experiments carried out partly by the MasterTime, the TimeMeddler, at least a couple of TimeWarlordic scientists, and 1Gen1 supergeniuses but mostly by the amazing intelligence of the Rani herself." DocWho had was in one of the cabins of the megamonotrains with armour so dense that even the EverDoomWar superweapon had failed to damage them. "The criminal rogue Timelords were here.

He had hacked the supercomputer network-system, with the help of Dazanne, and had found some very useful scraps of data. Somebody had attempted a fast, thorough, scrub of all data from all databanks but had failed to wipe it all. There were other clues that survivors in the megamonotrains had fled very soon after the attack had taken place but not why or where.

Dazanne: "These five monstrous monotrains could not go any further than this station, there being no monorails ahead being able to carry them. So far we have found no survivors but have found four of those super heavy suits of power armour clearly designed for no previously known of humanoid. It would be easier to turn them into robots than to make adapt them as useful power armour. The shazemans seem to have an amazing flexibility of shapeform that would have them almost flow into the megapower armour. There are bits, and pieces, of other equipment that for unknown reasons they could-would not take with them."

PaleOneMan frowned. "We know of the Doomiskiata superweapons, as used by both the EverChaosSwarm and the EverOrderArmada, but found no evidence of them at the site of the organic machine or here, so far. That is any Needleskiata."

DocWho frowned softly. "Like many of the Doomiskiata, the Needleskiata could be used at a range of just over 105,400 kilometres in variation and, in the case of fewer Doomiskiata, right through solid barriers except for a unique few and some other kinds of barriers. The Needleskiata effect weakened after roughly 89,000 kilometres."

Then came an urgently sent message that scouts had found something both very unusual and promising of new information.

But before they went to investigate the find, the leadership group learned that one of the gift cubes, a golden metallic one, was sparkling.

39.2

The twenty-seven metallic cubes were still in the the chamber that they had first appeared in and had not been touched since even Timelordic tech failed to get over skin deep with such as scanning or probing. Then K9tron had informed them that the Warden God had advised that the metallic cubes would activate when-where needed most and not before.

The golden metallic cube, one of three, vanished with a sparkling shimmer and seconds later a greater sparkling shimmer went through the DocTARDIS. It lasted just over three minutes and then it abruptly ended instantly just as it had begun.

Three silvery metallic cubes did the same.

Then nine of the coppery metallic cubes mimicked the process.

DocTARDISmind: "As far as one can tell, the DocTARDIS has gained extensive new ways of self protection and has gained 13 great quasiTARDIS chambers that are bigger inside than out, in their own rights. As yet only #13 is actively accessible as it is relatively basic in design and seemingly for more relative general uses such as storage of items that appeared with it; the others have begun a process of internal construction and development using masses of resources that appeared with them. Other changes have happened or are happening but one needs time to properly discover just what they are.

DocTARDISmind: "I compute that the more exotic changes were made by the one golden metallic cube, secondary supportive ones were made by the three silvery cubes and the supply of special usable resources were achieved by the nine coppery metallic cubes."

That left two golden metallic cubes, six silvery metallic cubes and 18 copperish metallic cubes.

Question was, what was all the extra protection for? That seemed to be, at first, the more pertinent puzzle to solve. Then there was QuasiTARDIS #13 and the 'items' in it.

39.3

After a trek through utility tunnels, away from Mark444 Subway Station, they came to the great domechamber. At its very center was a great organic metallic mechanism and on it multiple, softly glowing, symbols of both Palefolk and Tazefolk language but it was not of the Shadotaze variant. No, it was of the Greyztaze that never took part in the EverDoomWar as far as the Timelords knew.

Around the great mechanism lay scattered megapower armoured figures but this time all were part melted and-or had large holes burned through them. Another kind of Doomiskiata superweapon but at least three types would have made that kind of damage. Except that the dead shadomans were not alone for scattered with them were many exotic mattercated forms of zetans, palepawns, and humans being all fake. These were also drilled with bigger holes and-or part melted.

Sarah Lyons was standing and studying the battle scene with a grim expression, her helmet held in her hands. None of the other Pridetroopers had their helmets off. She turned to face DocWho. "The horrors of war are bad enough with out dealing with entities like those or the terrible kind of weapons that destroyed them."

DocWho nodded. "In this case the Doomiskiata superweapons have been used to keep a prison secure or so it would seem though for what ultimate reason is yet to be known. Do we believe the Warden God? I tend to do so but I wonder how much the Warden God itself knows. What if it is a puppet."

Saltis, of the Wonder5, stood with the other four. "The Warden God states that it has only one primary purpose and that is to keep the Coreworld prison secure until more powerful gods arrive to assess matters or the prison can no longer be secured."

DocWho went to ask a question, of the Warden God, but then didn't. Instead he went in a different direction. "I believe that the large taskforce, in the megamonotrains, came at least partly here to destroy this great mechanism but why? Is it part of that which keeps the prison secure? It seems to be undamaged."

Saltis took a baseball out of a pocket and then expertly threw it, baseball game fashion. It struck the great metallic organic structure that appeared so solid. At once it started to slowly steadily collapse both downwards and in on itself. In just a few seconds there lay, where the great mechanism had stood, a very large mound of tiny chunks along with a thick dust like substance.

Saltis shrugged. "I don't know why I did that or that I could use a baseball with such power, distance, and accuracy because I had to hit it at a precise spot. I could earn lots of money as a baseball pro except there are not anything such these days."

Sarah Lyons smiled. "We BrotherSisters of Steel play baseball sometimes but using those kind of skills might be seen as unfair play."

DocWho: "We can play a game of basketball back in the DocTARDIS but for now I suggest that we focus on this..." He shrugged. "I suspect that we may be in a good deal of trouble and not just us or even this world. Suzanne just sent me a message in a secret Timelordic manner. Illumitaze just entered the atmosphere over the NewWashington and I mean thousands of them. They appear to be focused on the GrandMall. We need to grab some samples and then get a move on to the Museum of Technology."

Stoner, both Spacer and aspect of the Wanderer, was surprised though far less so than the others around himself. Instead of turning out to be a threat, the Illumitaze had rescued Sleepership #6, along with all life aboard it, and had brought it safely to the NewEarth solar system with its 300+ worlds. There were awakened humans who were only to happy to speak glowingly of the entities. Problem was they did not know why the Illumitaze had come to the NewEarth except it was for an extremely urgent-important reason. The repaired-altered sleepership gave up no secrets of Tazefolk technologies. This included, now empty, areas where the exotic entities had carried out secretive, exotic, works.

Except that Stoner, being of the Wanderer, soon realised that they had made preparations for a very fast, accurate, journey from the sleepership to a particular set of coordinates on-in the NewEarth. He stood in a great empty chamber and picked up elusive impressions of what the Illumitaze had done. It came to him, then, that they had not been alone. They had their own followers-minions just as the Shadotaze did but generally treated them better.

Had the Illumitaze needed Sleepership #6 and had saved it just because they could or had they just diverted to do the rescue and then took advantage of the situation? Or was there another explanation? Again there were answers that begged even more questions.

The sleepership was going to serve future multiple roles for the SolFeds but only after the living contents of it were delivered to a secure quarantine much closer to NewMars. Even then SolFed teams, along with scouting robots, were busy exploring assessing the massive space vessel. The Solar Federation Government, the mass media networks, the citizenry, and others were very excited. They were also aware of SolCon stealth scoutships having been detected in the area.

The SolCon would soon be aware that the sleepership would be something very good for them to have instead of their traditional enemies of the SolFed. Alternatively they might wish to destroy it just so the Solar Federation would not have it.

41.1

Renaming itself the PostDD Research Investigations Group, the ex-sleepers such as the Scullie, Muldor, Olivia, James, Professor Bishop and many others departed from the DocTARDIS to a vault like bunker. It was not too far from Ghoultown and yet had been well hidden, secured. The PDDRIG wished to run independently of the influence of the Timelords, intentional or not.

They would cooperate with the local peoples and would attempt to research, inside the complex, and investigate, outside the complex, the history of the region since Doomsday. The Suzanne sent them there by DemiTARDIS and gave them a whole lot of extra resources including robots. Contact between the Timelord group and the PDDRIG would be kept as much as possible.

Suzanne did not go to the new complex but a new Timeclone of her, Kazonne, took up temporary posting there to assist the PDDRIG and to liaise between them and the DocWho Timelords.

Instead she walked in the truly massive active QuasiTARDIS #13 that was a great metallic cube but with multiple half-floors, rampways, skeletal towers with modular building sections, flexible floating monorail network-systems and much else. Servoglobes, securoglobes, and even some defenderglobes.

There were great stacks of cubecanisters being varied sizes and colour codes but those were high up on the half decks.

41.2

What she was looking at was most astonishing. A great protective security bubble, transparent, wrapped it as it hovered up in the air. A PreTimelord starbattleship, with only limited time travel ability, the extremely long ago lost ExtrallishOria056 was quite massive being two spheres at either end of a long cylinder and with great triangular fins radiating out from the center of the cylinder. Before the Timelords had arisen there had been the Starlords who had been brutal, territorial, elitist and destructive. The Starlordic Empire had risen and fallen with much violence, ending finally when the very first version of the Timelords intervened. The Starlords had been of Gallifrey so were the predecessors of the Timelords but not ones that the Timelords are proud of.

Suzanne spoke to DocWhy. "The last Starlord Armada vanished mysteriously. Timesages have often pondered if they attempted some kind of dangerous timespace jump to escape from the first Timelords who were hunting for them. That Starlordic vessel is known to have been part of that Armada. It has special areas that are bigger inside than out but only to a far more limited degree than any TARDIS has."

As a quite new Timeclone, DocWhy was still learning and had much to learn.

Lasanna stood there with a big friendly killclaw that she was scratching under his chin. He was intensely curious about what was going on in the chamber. A big, friendly, radroach was sleeping peacefully on his back being one Roochi675.

There were other big 'things' there as Saltis would say.

One was a smaller dalek stealth raidership all black and sleek, highly dangerous but of an earlier type less so that later models became.

There was an unidentified silvery sphere floating in the air that was about 100 metres high-wide.

There was what looked like a blue police box, a wooden one from the early 20th Century of the OldEarth, nation of Great Britain. It was very small when compared to the other items there.

Then there was an ocean liner, that could hover or go on the surface of any ocean, and it was named the SS Titanic II. It had come from the last recorded century of the OldEarth and, officially, had not gone with the sleeperships for common sense reasons.

Suzanne sighed. "There are clues here and nothing here was chosen, by accident, to be here."

Behind the items, clearly in view, were perhaps half a dozen others.

41.1

Jasmine approached the odd metal hatch, that had a general VaultTech appearance to it but was of a kind previously unknown to her, and fired her much personalised moderate powered survival rifle. The bullet ploughed into the radroacher creature, killing it both quietly and silently thanks to the changes she had made to the semiautomatic rifle. Radroachers had even better senses than did radroaches.

Then she was at the hatch with the others following her closely including two odd claptrap robots, each on a single wheel, Dogmeat an amazing cyborg dog that looked like a normal Alsatian, the Cane Sisters as identical twins, Andy, Patts, Trevor, and Cassidy. Another Exterminator group was close by, they also being humans in body-armour and having robotic company.

She spoke quietly to the others through 2way radio including the robots. "This is it, one of the features I found in that 3Dmap that differed from the official one on public access."

The hatch was locked but not heavily so she quickly hacked the electronic lock before having the door slide open with a soft humming sound. Revealed was a large vault like chamber but the largest machine there was quite exotically disturbing; it had a transparent tank on it and it was filled with semitransparent mist. In it stirred young radroaches, thousands of them, moving slower than they normally would as they ate heaps of brown, yellow, and pinkish brown bits of what looked like clonemeat. They went to poop in the corners but this was no surprise for radroaches were more hygienic in in their home spaces. There were small hatches inside the big tank, leading out, but they seemed to be all firmly locked.

Jasmine frowned. "A radroach breeder machine, which probably explains where at least some of the radroaches come from. I wonder how many other such machines there are in TechVault101."

They began to look around the chamber, soon finding lockers of mostly useful, or semiuseful items, but also those so exotic-specialised that they could only be used with the place. While some areas were covered with a fine dust, some showed signs of fairly recent activity.

41.2

Professor James Anderson stepped lightly into the chamber and gave a soft sigh of frustration before talking. "I hope that you have touched nothing. They come here at least once a week." He gave his daughter, Jasmine Anderson, a slightly awkward hug. "I had already decided to tell what I have discovered, Jasmine, when I learned that you had come this way and feared that you might stumble into those from the secret CoreVault where those observing the isolation experiment are based."

Jasmine frowned softly. "What 'isolation experiment'?"

James spoke gravely. "I, myself, grew up in a Control TechVault with no experimental basis to it. It still exists out there, being filled with TechCorp people and not just those of VaultTech. When I escaped from that vault, long tired of the criminal insanity of those in charge, I had already learned that there were both Control TechVaults and Experiment TechVaults. I had hoped that TechVault101 would be a more sane Control TechVault or a safer experimental one. I also knew of GECK, the Garden of Eden Creation Kits, that each were carefully divided, into different components, and stored in different locations. As long as one has the right kind of GECK software-hardware and other important elements, then a GECK can be put together. Completed GECKs could greatly improve this damaged world."

He shook his head. "TechVault101 is deceptive. Why I was let in, with you, is something that I never did discover until very recently. The excuse that I was needed as a doctor was not true for the TechVault had already had three general doctors, two surgeons, other specialists and some medical robots. The PrimeOverseer, the father of your friend Amata, is a fool of a puppet but he knew enough to keep me and you. The real reasons for keeping us was check me out and then have me take part in the experimentation on Vaultfolk here, not including those of the secret CoreVault. The second was your unusual genetic nature that 'they' have been investigating through medical checks you reasonably have to take as an Exterminator."

Then he frowned. "The isolation experiment is not just about general isolation from the outside but isolation under increasing pressure including first radroaches and then more dangerous entities such as the radroachers. Yet there is something else at work here."

He looked around. "I hacked into the security network-system of this chamber but we must leave as soon as possible so that the so called glitch can be supposedly remedied by secret computer network-systems."

So they left quickly.
