So, yeah even though my computer can handle skyrim se without a doubt (it can play games like Battlefield 1, and Dragon Age Inquisition no problem)I still get below 60fps, please bring me your wisdom interwebs! My specs are below.

Processor Intel® Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz, 2808 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GDDR5 @ 4.0GB
15.9GB RAM ((10.6 GB available) i also dont know why there is only 10gb of ram available out of my 16....)
let me know if i left something out of the specs.
At this point after playing 5 years of skyrim I am starting to think it just doesnt like me anymore.

Your computer may be able to handle going over 60 fps but Skyrim's engine can't. It's not your setup. When it gets over 60 fps the Helgen cart glitches out and stuff.

Hey, thanks for replying. I don't want to go over 60fps, I just want 60 fps, right now for some reason in vanilla i get as low as 45fps.

I am also actually familiar with the problems of going over 60fps.

I would say it is problem with game engine.

I have :

i5 4460 3.2 Ghz

GTX 960 2GB

8GB RAM (1600 Mzh)

SSD

I can play games like Battlefield 1 with High settings or Battlefield 3/4 with ultra settings but if i want damn shadows better than medium in Skyrim I have to reduce distance I can see them.

And ofc godrays must be at low.

I dont really have problem to run game with good FPS on its own but I really consider ENB must have these days. And that cost me 5-10 FPS, with SSAO - another 7-8 FPS

What resolution are you playing in and what settings are you using? Are you running a lot of texmods and if yes, what resolution do they use? Are you running a lot of mods with scripts?

Hi

Laptop GPUs performance depends on the design of the laptop.

If yours is fat & sounds like a hair dryer when playing you are getting the same performance as the desktop version of the GTX 1050. If your laptop is thin & quite you are not.

Here is an excellent video of GTX 1050 performance.

Skyrim & Skyrim SE plays fine in the 40s & 50s.

I play them at 4k with ENB(SE ENB/Reshade) with a GTX 1080 ti & I am in the high 40s, low 50s. I could drop the settings or resolution but there is no point. Gameplay is the same.

Maybe you just have too many stuff running in the background.

I have an older i7 3770K on an AsRock Z77 eXtreme11 mobo with 4x4GB KHX Genesis RAM@1600MHz and an MSI RX470 GamingX 8GB GPU and am running the game in ultra with GodRays and mostly 2 and 4K textures. I'm running 60fps and sure, there's dips in some areas, but nothing that's noticable in-game. No stutters or hamperings anywhere...

The game is installed on a mechanical drive too: a Seagate 4GB Constellation SAS drive @7200rpm.
