Catgirl27
I played Skyrim for a little while without mods, never thought of trying mods then I started playing the special edition and decided to try a few mods to see if I liked them or not well it improved my gaming experience in Skyrim se a ton. Original Skyrim has way more mods and skse, I was thinking would I be better off going back to Original Skyrim because there are some mods for Skyrim I like that are not available yet for the special edition. Also what mods for Skyrim do you recommend to make the graphics a little better and making the game brighter?
iXenite
To put it plainly, the Special Edition is the more stable game and should be the one you use for modding.
Ondrea
What makes the graphics better is really just personal taste. Not sure what you mean by brighter but an ENB can make it more crisp and colorful, so that's a place to start. Sort the ENB's by endorsements and it will give you an idea. Tons of texture options available to you. Personally, I use nearly everything by Cabal, Gamwich, and Hein84 to name just a few. Really you just have to spend some time searching and trying things out to see what suits you. Personally, I still play original Skyrim. I haven't crashed in a couple years, have mods I won't play without, and so there's really no reason for me to play Special Edition. I took a peek and came back to original. Run4life
Sure, I wouldnt dream about using SSE myself because I really really need certain SKSE mods. Other SKSE mods also removes the need for 64bit so go with Skyrim Legendary Edition instead. I always recommend Vividian ENB and combine it with Climates of Tamriel. Use Tamriel Reloaded and Skyrim Flora Overhaul as base with some nice mountain mods and city mods and you are ready for a good start.
Catgirl27
Yeah the main mods I want to use for skyrim is racemenu and enhanced camera that are not out for the special edition yet theres probably alot more I'd like that I'm just am not aware of yet. Most of the mods I'm using for special edition are available for skyrim so it's just a matter of installing them. I am using mythical weathers on skyrim special edition, hoping to find an enb or weather mod similar to it for Skyrim I'm sure something like that is out there. Also how do I install enbs? All of them require manual installation I'm not exactly used to that, I like using nexus mod manager.
jones177
I play both at 4k resolution with ENB. SE's terrain looks better but the characters don't. It is the lighting. My Skyrim is relatively stable. The same mods that randomly crash it do the same in SE. My game is only stable because I stopped modding it. It has been maxed out for years. The last major conflicts I had with it were all 3 way & took weeks to figure out. I won't even update it. It can easily turn into a total nightmare. I mod SE & my game is a work in progress. Just like Skyrim it will take years to get the game where I want it to be. I recommend playing & modding both. Skyrim will teach you how to mod & when you are so frustrated with it that you want to uninstall/reinstall it play SE. Later
Signette
Actually I'm thinking to get back into Skyrim as well and curious about SE stability with mods. I don't own FO4, but my friend who does, has it quite heavily modded and he says that game doesn't crash at all (which I have witnessed myself), but Skyrim LE have been crashing like no tomorrow for us both, even not so heavily modded and we tried every possible fix there was, which only reduced issue but never eliminated it. I bet those crashes weren't mod conflicts but rather memory related. How would you compare FO4 stability to Skyrim SE with mods?

The recent fall creators update removed Vram limitations for DX9 games, so if you have a beefy graphics card and ENBoost, your game shouldn't really be crashing if you mod correctly. For the record FO4 DOES crash every once in a while if you push it, the game itself is also one of Bethesdas least optimized outings in terms of performance and general FPS.
