Some authors currently release big mods, others release small mods. What usually happens is small mods get less unique downloads, just check top mods and you will find immersive weapons/armors, you will find unique uniques, you wont find "hd forks". So is releasing many small mods actually a way to boost unique downloads and therefore game the system? Im not as sure as others seem to be. We'll have to wait and see.

now is the immersive weapons/armors, but there will be no more. perhaps. Edited by park9

Or perhaps aliens from mars are going to release amazing mods and will get all the donation pool. People! Grab your pitchforks! #MoneyForEarthlingsOnly

Both are equally baseless, nothing I have seen indicates authors will lean towards many small mods instead of a big one after this system is implemented in an attempt to boost their unique downloads. For a starter because big mods are vastly more popular than small mods and therefore have more unique downloads. Someone will? Probably but from there to saying its the end of big mods is nonsensical, big mods get much more unique downloads and therefore more money in such a system.

If I want to create a big mod, with your mods, what do you say?

I personally say you dont, you said the reason, my mods, if anyone is going to mske a compilstion of all my mods its going to be me. And I'd have said the same before the system was announced and will say the same afterwards. Which doesnt mean i havent allowed some of my content to be used in mods by others such as legacy of the dragonborn (a big mod) and i wouldnt have any issue to continue to do so after this. Is legacy of the dragonborn inviable after this system is implemented? I dont think so.

As for this system promoting tighter permissions generally because there is money involved which is what you are implying. I dont think thats really a problem, the authors of the original content can (if they want) simply put as conditition of his content being used that he gets a proportional, or otherwise what he considers fair, amount of donation points from the compilation, since he has authored part of it. And the one one making compilstion will agree to that or use someone else's content.

Also, not everything is about money for everyone, this system isnt going to make anyone rich and currently there are donations and the more popular the mod the more donations, yet many dont have any problem with allowing others to use their content.

And in any case, nothing stops authors making big mods with their own content and the system doesnt punish doing this imo, which is what im saying as many have said this is the end of big mods and people sre going to release "hd fork", "hd dust" and "hd door handles" separately instead of "HD skyrim overhaul" compiling all their own work. Since according to some the later way of releasing gets less unique downloads, Im not so sure of that statement, its simplistic. Edited by FrankFamily

I think this is a brilliant idea. There are so many mods I find 'essential' to my playthroughs that I never know who I would want to donate to, and how much I would want to donate. Question(s):

* As a user, is it possible to directly donate to this pool, or are you using a percentage of supporter/premium subscriptions or ad revenue for the pool?

Apologies if this has already been answered, I've read through the majority of the comments, but didn't see this come up.

No Downloads with no donations? When I click the popup away nothing happens.

Please can anybody help me? As for now I can't download any mod, do I do anything wrong?

As it says in Dark0ne's post, you can donate straight into the pool if you wish, but there is no guarantee it'll go to the author(s) you want. Straight donations would be better in that situation. The main bulk of the funding from this is coming from the Nexus profits (ad revenue, subscriptions/supporter payments).

As long as I can donate points to a specific author, I think its a great idea, especially if I can use my steam credit to donate. This way I wont have to use my credit card or paypal.

The points will based on unique downloads; you can't actually donate points unless you are a mod author who has accumulated points, but you can, if you want to, donate a monetary sum. Steam has nothing to do with this.
